**PRE-SURGERY**
I corresponded with the clinic's international coordinator, Maricar, who answered my questions on the cost, surgery, etc. I ended up planning a 2-week trip to Bangkok to get the surgery done. The first week would involve the evaluation, ordering the implants, and the surgery. The second week would be recovery and a check-up before I left Thailand.
**WEEK ONE**
I went to the clinic and had to wait quite a while (~45 min?) before I got to see the surgeon. I really don't remember the full sequence of events because it was a year ago, but essentially Maricar went over paperwork with me, I saw the surgeon who had me try on sizers, they took pictures of my pre-surgery boobs, then after I decided on how much CC I wanted they ordered the implants.
A couple of things, they were very generous in giving me time to try on the sizers, but they failed to mention that sizers can be inaccurate because of how the muscle and skin press on the implant. If I'd known this I probably would've gotten a bigger size. Maricar was really helpful, she walked me through everything and even took me to a local hospital to get the paperwork done (something about tourists getting medical procedures done in Thailand).
**SURGERY**
I remember having to wait a really really long time despite having an appointment that day, but I didn't mind that much. They took me to the surgery room and the surgeon double-checked some information with me, then drew lines on my breasts. The anesthesiologist double-checked that I'm not allergic to anesthesia and my weight, then they put me under. This part felt weird, I could feel myself getting colder but I wasn't really sleepy yet and suddenly I woke up.
They rolled me into a room and I slept there for a super long time! Like 3-4 hours. One nurse was really attentive; she waited until I was awake and brought me water + made sure I was okay. Eventually, I felt better enough to leave and go back to my hostel (it was right next door).
**RECOVERY**
The first day wasn't too bad, I mostly just slept. Day 3 - 10 were really really rough. I couldn't sleep flat on my back (was told not to), instead I had to sleep in an inclined position and my chest really hurt. I wasn't allowed to shower for a week either. My chest swelled pretty big at first, then the swelling went down around day 10. I had to wear a support bra to make sure the implants stayed in place while healing and to keep my breasts from pulling at the incision. I had to wear this support bra every day/night for about a month? I can't quite remember. I continued wearing it for a couple of months post-surgery though.
**WEEK TWO**
That week was mostly spent recovering, then on the tail-end of the week I went back to the clinic and they looked at the breasts, took pictures, and told me how to take care of it. I flew back and it was rooough dragging my luggage through the airport.
**CONCLUSION**
Do your research! There are real risks with breast augmentation surgery and there's a reason so many people get their implants removed. Many, many women who have gotten the surgery later report symptoms like fatigue, pain, and brain fog. Women with implants are more likely to get very rare cancers (though the overall risk is still low, but much higher than the general population). Additionally, capsular contraction is always a risk with implants. It's important to assess whether the benefits are worth the risks. Luckily, I haven't experienced these symptoms yet but I'm wary.
Travel-wise, I definitely suggest planning ahead: get a hotel near your clinic, check to see what paperwork you need to bring, and buy lots of groceries before your surgery. Also, try stuffing your bra a couple of weeks before to get used to seeing yourself with larger breasts. I also suggest getting someone to go with you if possible. Having someone help take care of me and carry my luggage would have been so so helpful. Overall though, I'm really glad I did this surgery and I'm so happy having larger breasts! I think I look so much better in my clothes and I feel so much more confident.
My two regrets are: I wish I had gotten this done in America (because it would have been easier to manage) and I wish I had gotten a bigger size. But still, I'm very happy I had this done.
Year post-op, happy I have boobs
I'm okay with the scarring (it's pretty light, but still visible) - I'm hoping it'll flatten out a bit more over time. I was using silicone bandages most nights and some days, but stopped using them as much in the last couple of months. There's a weird dark bump on the scar on my right boob though. I thought it was a scab at first but then it didn't go away.
**Shape**
I'm really happy with the shape! It's hard to tell in the pictures, but it has a nice, natural slope. It looks pretty natural when I'm wearing a bikini, though there's still a bit of a high profile on my left boob. Unfortunately, the left one is still slightly higher than my right, but a lot less noticeable than before.
**Texture**
Boobs are not jiggly, pretty obvious that they're implants if I were to jump, run, or walk while wearing a bikini because of the lack of jiggle. Not too concerned about that though, mostly because not many people see me in a bikini.
**Comfort**
I still feel a bit of pressure on my ribcage when I'm laying flat on my back. And though I can put pressure on the boobs (over the implant) it's really uncomfortable. They feel really bad if grabbed too.
**Size**
Still wish I'd gone a bit bigger but overall I'm happy with my boob size. If I could do it over again I think I would have wanted an additional 75cc. But they're big enough that I feel confident and happy in a bikini. Plus, low cut shirts finally look good on me!
3 Month Update
Boobs have dropped a bit but unevenly and are still pretty high, but oh well I expected to have to wait a while anyway. Right is dropping faster than left, maybe because there was more fat in my right boob originally.
Physically, I'm fine. Boobs are super uncomfortable when there's weight on them. Every now and then I get these weird pangs of discomfort? It's like an itchy pain, usually on the side of my boobs, sometimes around the nipples. Everything else is fine, energy level, range of motion, etc. I can exercise now too!
Psychologically, I'm great! I'm so happy to have boobs and I feel so good in anything I wear. I've told a couple friends and family but I don't plan on being super open about it for a variety of reasons.
Provider Review
I'm glad I got this surgery - I think it was worth it - but I wish I had gotten it done somewhere else. I had an okay time at this clinic. They were very responsive to my emails, answered my questions, and were pretty accommodating to my needs. Maricar also literally led me through getting paperwork done for this surgery (helpful because I don't speak Thai). That being said, they kind of rushed through explaining the surgery and its effects. And the wait times were pretty bad each visit, though I wasn't too concerned. Also, they didn't suggest getting different sized implants based on my original breast size. My right breast was larger than my left (visibly so) and I've heard other surgeons would suggest differntly sized implants because of that. Also, when I was trying on the sizers, they didn't explain that sizers aren't always accurate because of how the muscle/skin presses on the implant. I don't completely fault them for this though, because they did suggest that I go bigger. Overall, I'd suggest this clinic to someone trying to do a breast augmentation abroad. But looking back I wish I'd just got it done in the U.S., with or without the Motiva implants.
