Excited and Scared...small A To...?
WORTH IT$6,250
My surgery date for breast augmentation is fast approaching. I go from feeling scared and uncertain to excited and giddy and back again. I've never had any kind of surgery before, although the surgery itself is not what scares me most. If I'm honest it's fear of the judgement of others. I've only told my best friend (and husband, a hard one to avoid!) about the procedure, both of whom are supportive and understanding. I am presently a very very small A. Try as I have, in my 31 years I've never been able to overcome the insecurity and frustration that has gone with having a flat chest. I know that I'm not doing it for anyone other than myself (no pressure from the husband!) which feels like the right attitude. I know that I can't let fear of other people's thoughts dictate my own actions/choices...so to hell with 'em! That being said, I don't think I'm gonna go fuller than a B cup. I would like there to be a decent proportion of my existing breast tissue (albeit not much!) with the implant. I'm not sure how many cc's that'll end up being. My pre-op visit is scheduled for 1/3 where I'll have a chance to try on sizers and get a better idea of what I'd like. I'm also nervous about the recovery period...I have a job that includes lifting of some heavy files which I was hoping to be able to resume a week after surgery, but from what I've read it sounds like no lifting whatsoever for at least 4 weeks post-op...I'll definitely do whatever is recommended! This whole thing just feels so surreal and crazy. Any advice is much appreciated!

Trust me... I was terrified, and I mean terrified of people at work finding out, it being really noticeable, my family noticing. But oh my God once you get it done that fear completely disappears! I wish I had of spent less time pre - BA being so scared of what other people thought. It's one of the most common procedures done around the world and its nobody's business but yours. It's your life and doing something for you that makes you happy shouldn't concern anyone else! Also if you wear push-up bras, if you go with a modest size they will look the exact same in a sports bra. Not sure what your job is but I was back at work after a week and I stock things and lift heavy boxes, reach over my head etc.. I had to take it easy the first week back but I made it through the week, I was a little stiff but it wasnt that bad at all. After 2 weeks I was completely able to lift everything I was before and I healed fine. Honestly I think moving around and staying a little active helped my healing tremendously. I'm sure you will he fine lifting files! After day 4 it's honestly a breeze there will be some nerve pains and random aches but they are very normal as your muscles get used to the implant.. Good luck and trust me afterwards you will not even care what people think! It's very liberating indeed :)

So good to know about getting back to work...I don't think I lift anything much more than 12 lbs (I'm a legal secretary, just concerned about lifting fat, heavy files).
And yeah, I'm hoping that my chest will look basically like it does now, but without the padded bra.
Thanks!! That's what I needed to hear :)

Also the few weeks before I traded in my normal push up bra and actually bought a 2 cup size padded bra so it would be less noticeable. I'm usually a very quiet and shy person but after it was done I just felt so... non caring about others opinions! Because I love my boobs so much now and dont regret it at all:)

Wondering about types and sizes of implants...
So I've been pouring over this site, checking out other women's procedures and implant specs, and I'm feeling more and more confused/uncertain. My surgeon was..not pushy, but not impartial on the subject of round silicone vs. teardrop/anatomical. I think I didn't make it clear enough that my goal isn't so much upper pole volume and cleavage, as it is a normal, natural looking/feeling breast. He was all about the round silicone. From what I've seen, teardrop implants give the most natural appearance, but is it true that they're substantially firmer to the touch? That would be a deal-breaker for me. Maybe I just need to get low-profile for the more natural look? I dunno, man! Any insights here are much appreciated. :)

I have Mentor anatomical moderate profile implants—475 cc which was the largest I could go with the moderate profile. I love my results, but yes, the implants take longer to soften but they do soften. I initially started out also wanting a B or C cup, but I can tell you I am glad I went as large as I could. I am a D cup now. Honestly, you will not regret going bigger—I would even consider going up to 325cc. They will not look huge if you are getting them under the muscle.
It’s odd your doctor is only offering one type of implant and especially the high profile which does give more projection.
Good luck with your surgery! Take it easy for the first two weeks. :)

Thank you for the feedback! I feel like I’ve read that a lot women end up wishing they’d gone bigger...don’t think I’ve come across more than a couple who feel the opposite.
And yeah, weird about my ps and his only using the high profile. I called his office and spoke with someone there about it and they assured me that the mentor “high profile” was actually more mid-range given their scale. Still confusing that a ps would offer less options for some reason. More investigation is required!

Pre-op appointment with sizerrrrrrs!
Went in today for my last appointment before surgery next week. I tried on sizers to help choose a size. Found out my surgeon only uses Mentor high profile smooth round silicone implants. I can’t decide between 250 cc and 275 cc. I want a more subtle/conservative look, and 275 just looks so huge with the sizers! What’s with that? Am I crazy?
Also another thing I need to decide is the incision site...inframammary or peri-areolar? (Under the breast in the fold or along the edge of the Areola). As freaky as the peri-areolar sounds...I must admit I’m tempted to go that way if it means I don’t have to worry as much about scarring (because it tends to blend with the Areola). But it still seems like a weird spot.

When is your surgery date? Honestly the size difference between 250cc and 275cc is so small. I think you would look great with either size. After reading comments on this site, everyone says go bigger, you won’t regret it. I don’t have surgery until 1/31 so this is my uneducated opinion ;) Best of luck and keep us posted!

My surgery is this Wednesday the 9th...and yeah, I might give in to the “boob greed” and go with the 275’s. :)
