Capsulectomy with implant replacement
Capsular contracture
I went to Dr Smith January 2024 for a breast implant which developed capsular contracture. He performed a capsulectomy with implant replacement through the mentor warranty program and had the actual surgery covered by OHIP. Since the surgery, my breast pocket seemed like the skin was a lot thinner and the implant seemed to have bottomed out. I’m not sure if it was bottomed out but it was significantly lower than the other breast. Dr Smith was condescending about the situation citing “I did a free surgery on you”. And he also said “I thought you were just a stay at home mom so your boobs doesn’t matter how they look, only the pain was priority”. I found this unprofessional in his bedside manner and I told him how u professional his response was. He eventually agreed that he should perform a revision to the pocket called a “capsulorrhaphy” in July 2024.This made the situation better for about 2 months but once again, it fell back down looking “bottomed out”. It also has pain along with the bottomed out look. When I went to a post op appointment to discuss my concerns, Dr. Smith was once again dismissive and kept trying to convince me that they were much better than before (they’re not). They are just as bad as before my first surgery with him, just in a different way. I don’t recommend him because of my results and his behaviour when things didn’t go good. I was offered to return and discuss all my concerns with him again- but I don’t feel safe with him emotionally or that he can achieve a nice result. I really would steer clear of this doctor because of my experience.
