Adding Additional Photos
Attached are pictures the day before explant. You will see here photos of what the breast looked from different sides with flexion and without. The night before surgery I began feeling like I was breaking up with my implants. I was crying asking myself and thinking to myself is this what I really want. Going through another surgery and taking out these large implants I’ve been looking at for the past few years. I really disliked them though feeling them when I ran, feeling them rub up against my chest wall as I used my pec muscles. They weren’t comfortable at all. But they provided a profile which looked ok in clothes a bit matronly still but they added projection which I lacked.

Yes the doctor did a wedge lift during the explant surgery and I’m so happy with the results. My insurance didn’t cover any of the costs since it was cosmetic. There wasn’t anything to support a medical necessity to cover the explant. Yes for me the implants were a waste of money. I regret them but I’m glad they’re out and it’s over.
Thank you so much. Now I’m intrigued by the wedge lift — never heard of it.
It’s crazy to me that I’d be held responsible for the fix. I saw somewhere else that someone managed to not pay.
I think the possibility of BAD happening to patients getting silicone under the muscle is great enough that it warrants discussion and warning IN WRITING about it. This was never mentioned to me despite expressing concerns re: silicone concerns re: under the muscle re: being an athlete (more likely to occur). Other possible negative outcomes that are far less likely to occur are brought up, but BAD occurs in 80+% of sun pectoral silicone implants…
I’m reading that the whole of Europe opts for over-the-muscle for this reason.
I’m glad you’re happy with your mend — hopefully this will all be behind me soon, too.

I got saline I had them in for about 5 years when they pulled them out there were little floating particles in them too.
OMFG. Ugh.
I just noticed your original post (writing, not the photos) has been deleted…

Explant, Lift, Areola Reduction scheduled
It’s been 6 years now since I’ve had the implants in. I wanted to clarify that the picture below resembles what my breast look like when the muscle is contracting. According to my new PS the reason why this is happening is due to the muscle squeezing on the large implant. My PS said that this is commonly seen (unfortunately not advertised and a lot of physicians don’t tell patients this can happen) when large implants are placed under the muscle. He said animation is seen to a certain degree when implants are placed under the muscle and the muscle is contracting. Sitting still the breast looks pretty normal.
Anyway, these implants are coming out next week. I’m pretty excited and worried at the same time. I hope I don’t end up with abnormal creases or folds or weird adhesions or indentations. My PS said these are risks that can occur during an explant, every body is different, every surgery is different. An explant is not a cosmetic surgery and be mentally prepared for the risks that are very possible. I dwelled on these words for a very long time. I scheduled my consultation back in August 2020 and back then I prebooked my surgery for the explant in March 2021 so I’ve been waiting a very long time (7 months) and had a lot of time to think about it. I’m explanting with Dr. Surjit Rai & he is booked way in advance. I like how Dr. Rai is very open and honest about the risks and what to expect. Just counting down the days now and hope that in time my small breast will heal and look semi normal.

Breast Crease Not Performmed Correctly
I received a BA only to end up with a deformity. I now have a double bubble which resulted from an improper capsular pocket size. Dr. Shaffer should have created an appropriately sized pocket for the implant.
When I pointed this out he stated that it was due to the scar healing and that’s just how my breast healed.
It’s been 2 years and now I have to save for a removal and lift- I do not want to get them replaced.
Now I have trust issues and I’m a little scared going through a possibly botched surgery and now I have to pick up a second job to pay for it.

My left boob you can slightly see my old crease line and I also have double bubble 6 months post op
I had that happen to me. I waited until I was 49 for BA. came out with double bubble on both. I had to wait a year for repair. I only had to pay for operating room. no other fees. the fix worked but it was another two months off of exercise. I now want to go back for a lift.
Would our mind sharing a picture of what you started with pre-op? Did you have tuberous characteristics? Thanks in advance.
Keep us updated! I hope you find a surgeon you can trust! If you ever wanted to make the travel to Utah I would suggest Angela Keen. She is so understanding and is so magical at reconstructive surgery! Until you can pay for a new surgery stay strong and positive! You’ve got this!
How soon after the operation did the double bubble form?

I’m wondering if your implant provider (mine are Sientra) or your insurance provider covered and portion of the explant due to medical risk + complication?
This is a nightmare and I can’t wait for it to be over. I’m sorry you also went through it. Oh, did you opt for a lift as well — if so, are you happy with that?
