Beware of Financial Policies

Can’t really say too much about the doctors skill but it’s hard to get past the office high pressure practices. If the doctor is really good they would not have to resort to pressuring patients and taking their money. I visited this practice for a body procedure in December. I told the surgical coordinator Alyssa that I had not gotten much sleep and had been a bit anxious and I was supposed to come with my husband but he had to go to work. I should have never went to this appointment by myself because I was immediately pressured to put down a deposit on a procedure even though I said I was not sure about dates due to time off work. She was very vague about everything and made it seem like it would not be a problem that they were flexible. She was so quick to take my credit card and charge me 2500.00. She never provided me with a receipt or made me sign anything. Just took my money and sent me off with a folder of general information. She never explained any financial policies nor was I provided with any documentation of policies. I was told not to worry and that everything would be discussed later at a preop appointment a month prior to surgery in January. My surgery was to be in mid February. I went home and immediately had regrets. I tried to call then sent an email. A couple of days later I called and explained I really should not have made a quick decision like that and wanted more time to think about everything. That’s when they told me that I could not cancel or change date and or get my deposit back if I didn’t go through with procedure. I was very upset as I was never told that and I did not consent to that. At this point I was left with the option to do procedure or lose all that money but yet still it was not clear as they still said they would work with me somehow. I asked multiple times to receive something in writing and just kept getting misinformation. I was strung along for weeks. This whole experience was really stressful and triggered my anxiety and caused me extreme depression. I ultimately decided not to have the procedure because how can I trust them with my body health and well being when I can’t trust them financially. If they are giving misinformation and refusing to provide financial agreements in writing that is a huge red flag. I am currently still in dispute with them over this as I never agreed to forfeit my deposit. They said they forgot to give me the policy. I don’t understand how a professional facility can do that. I feel I was scammed and just strung along to just keep my money!
