My BA Journey 2018

Hello RealSelf Community!
I’ve decided to start posting about my journey thus far in hopes that it will help someone the way several of these stories have helped me!!
Where to begin? I’ve been petite my whole life. My stats are; 5’1, 107-115 lbs, and currently a 30a, but I wear a 32a due to there not being a size 30 band. I have one child (10), whom I breastfed for a short time before going to bottle feeding (I wasn’t able to produce enough breast milk) and at that time (pregnancy & during breastfeeding) I was around 142 lbs and a full C cup. I’ve contemplated getting a breast augmentation ever since. Why did I wait so long to commit? Well, I guess there’s not really one solid answer, but between being a mommy, a wife, and working full time... Money and time just haven’t always been available for my personal needs - let alone my wants, so here I am: ten years later and finally feeling capable of committing to doing something for myself for a change (& I have to say, I am soooo excited)!!
My decision to move forward with getting breast implants actually started with a family recommendation & this app (Yay RealSelf)!
I have been absolutely addicted to this app for months and so thankful for all of the reviews/stories that have been posted on here! They’ve truly helped ease many of my anxieties and made me feel so much more confident and prepared.
After searching through numerous doctors in my area and reading literally every review I could possibly find- I made a decision to have my first consultation with Dr. Clavijo-Alvarez. I was nervous and excited and a little overwhelmed at my first consultation, but after trying on different sizers and finally making a decision on the size I liked (taking into consideration my doctors feedback as well) I chose to get 350cc HP smooth round silicone under the muscle. I’d also like to add that I didn’t bring my husband along for my initial consult because I didn’t want my opinion swayed in any way because I am doing this for ME (my husband has always told me how beautiful I am and that he loves the way I look, but if I thought getting implants would make me feel more confident, then he’d support whatever I’d decide to do). He’s been wonderful & supportive & I’m very thankful (quick shout-out to all the husbands/significant others that are being supportive to their other half). Having his support through all of this has made everything so much easier!
Now back to my story...
After my consultation I felt so insanely comfortable and confident with Dr. Clavijo-Alvarez that I just went ahead and scheduled my BA that day! He and his staff were so professional and kind and he even had a sense of humor (which really made me feel like I was talking to a friend or family member rather than a doctor).
My BA is currently scheduled for December 19th, 2018 (Happy Birthday to me)! I paid in full, so no worries about making down payments or having an deadlines to worry about. I’ll keep posting as the time progresses to keep everyone updated and current on my journey. I’d love to hear from anyone who has similar stats and is going through their BA around the same time or from anyone who’s had there BA done recently (:
I’ve posted some “pre-op” pictures and wish pics for reference.
Thanks for reading,

Round 2...
Okay, round two! I had my first Consultation on July 12th, 2018 and while everything went smoothly, (admittedly) I wanted to make sure the size I chose the first time around was still the size I wanted.
After reading so many more reviews & seeing how some women had wished they would’ve gone a little bigger, I think I just needed and wanted that reassurance, so I went ahead and scheduled a second consultation for September 11th, 2018.
In the meantime, (most of August) I spent a lot of my free time writing down any questions that popped in m head or that I may have forgot to ask at my first consultation.
Fast forward to September 11th:
I had a list of questions ready and I decided to bring my hubby along this time around to get his opinion on my size choice & also so he could meet my Doctor and ask any questions he may have.
This ended up being a really great bonding experience for us and it actually kind of made us closer in some aspects.
Long story short, I ended up sticking with my original decision (350cc) and my husband really liked them too! I did a little “experiment” and tried on the sizers without telling my husband which ones I liked to see what he would’ve picked and to my surprise- he chose the same sizers as me!! Now I DEFINITELY feel confident in my decision!
After the consultation, I set up my first post-op appointment (December 27th) & drove home smiling ear to ear! Wow!! This is starting to feel real... I cannot wait for December! I am just so excited to finally feel confident and sexy & to make my figure more proportionate!
(just a reminder: My stats are 5’1,107-115 lbs, 32a, and I’m 27 y/o) I’ll be 28 the day of my surgery (December 19th). I have a countdown app on my phone that I check what seems like ten times a day haha (as if the time is going to change dramatically from one hour to the next)! ????
Well, that’s all I have for now... I’ll be posting more as my surgery date approaches to keep everyone up to date!! Still so addicted to this app & love reading all of your stories!!

Hey! I am 19 days post-op.
I had a consult in April 2018 and scheduled my surgery Aug 2018. Best advice I can give you, because like me you have so much time between consult and surgery is, take a few weeks of no boob talk or research. It will help. Give your mind and body a break. Also 2 things I wish I would have known: The boobie blues are real, but it does get better ;) Hit me about day 6.
And I'm no sure if you wear a bra everyday now or not...but I never did! And I wish I would have prepped. My shoulders and back hurt more than my boobs because of bras! Who knew. #goodluck #happyhealing

Thanks for sharing & congratulations! I’ve been so nervous about how I’m going to feel post op as I already struggle with anxiety & I’ve been researching like a mad woman!! It’s nice to know things get better! I appreciate your advice and for reading my story so far.

I know this update was a minute ago, but I’m so glad your husband is already being a wonderful support to you! My boyfriend was the exact same way; he has been fantastic through this whole journey. We both had lots of time to ruminate about everything BA; it was almost too much time! But in a way I’m glad to have had the time for research. What a great birthday present to yourself!

Awe!! That’s so sweet! I’m so happy that we’re in a position to have such a great relationship and support system with our significant others- there really is no better feeling than the love and support of your other half

Tips anyone? (:
I know I’m still a few months away from my BA surgery (December 19th), but I was hoping to reach out and get any pre-op or post-op tips from anyone who’s “been there, done that”.
What kind of bras should I be buying for after surgery? Any special brands that worked well for you? What type of ice packs should I use? Should I invest in a neck pillow or was there anything you did or used to make sleeping more comfortable? Any recommendations on scar treatments or treatments for bruising? Or even any tidbits that helped you on your journey (pre or post-op)... I’m looking forward to hearing from you all!
PS. Is anyone else having vivid dreams about their surgery/outcome? They seem so real!! ???? eeek!

Good luck for your upcoming surgery! It is so exciting.
I’m just over 6 weeks post op, to be honest I found the whole process really easy. The pain was very minimal, more just pressure. My surgeon recommended sports crop tops for after surgery, they’re so comfortable.
In terms of pain management you just need to keep up with your pain meds, my scars are coming along nicely. I massage some balm into them every night and in the morning which will hopefully minimize their appearance over time.
Make sure you have as much help as possible in those first few days.
I love mine so much, no regrets or booby blues whatsoever. They get better and better every week.

You’re in good hands.

Dr C is a phenomenal surgeon. My advice would be to not have a fixed mental picture of what to expect to look like. It almost never happens. The shape of your breast, rib cage and other factors are so very different from person to person. I had wide set breasts like yours and in order to get cleavage I had to go above 500cc. Of course I didn’t know that when I got 330s then 450 and they still looked like baseballs sitting on my chest. I got t 800 after that. Those were too big and I had complications so I downsized to 700. Do not do what I did. To say it ruined my chest wall would be an understatement.. I will say moderate plus versus high profile gives a wider base implant(more cleavage). The high profile are narrower with more projection. Dr c fixed me after mine were removed a few years ago. I literally couldn’t look directly at myself and he made me look better than I’d expected. He is the best rated in the city and I’ll tell you after working with 5 other surgeons over boobs for 23 years he’s head and shoulders better... He is honest and that’s a rare trait in that field. I think as long as you get all of your questions and concerns addressed ahead f time and you understand you will need additional surgeries in the years ahead you’re going into this poised for a Good experience. Good luck. Don’t stress over bras either. Buy a nice soft coobie sports bra or two. They’ll feel great while you’re healing and they stretch and shrink to fit a pretty nice Range.

Thanks so much for taking the time to tell me your story and give me the reassurance that I both wanted and needed! It makes a world of difference knowing that I have yet to hear anything negative about Dr. C & to hear stories like yours is even more of a comfort! Also, thank you for the tips! I’m so excited! I’m looking forward to being able to help others once I’m post op like everyone has been helping me too. #congrats #happyhealing

Hey girl, I'm so excited for you! I had a countdown app too, and it went off this morning :) I"m just a few hours out! I don't have too many tips since it's early, but my memory foam neck pillow and sleep mask (for day naps) have been a Life Saver. I've also been taking Arnica Montana (from amazon), and I do think it has helped with swelling- ask your PS if he hasn't told you to take it already, mine said to start two weeks prior. My girls are surprisingly soft! I also ended up needing my mother to grab me some frozen peas, gently icing for short periods is lovely. Are you going over or under the muscle? We have similar stats- I went with 275s as of right now I actually kind of wish I went with 300s! You're going to look great!!!

October 19, 2018
Yayy!! Congratulations! I’m so excited for you! I’ve read a lot about arnica and seems like people are getting good results... I’m looking forward to seeing more of your post-op pics and seeing more updates on your review! Also, thanks so much for the tips!! Btw; I’m going under the muscle (350cc) high profile. I am so excited to finally feel confident. <3
