I wanted to do a review on here because I didn't really see a lot of situations similar to mine while doing research. I lost 80+ lbs more than ten years ago. I think that, when you are working to use weight or have been overweight, you have this concept that once you lose weight, you will be able to wear whatever you want. In the ten years since I've lost weight, I have certainly been healthier and happier than ever before, but my breasts (which went from a heavy c/small d to an a/b) have always bothered me on a daily basis. Of course, I have stretch marks and extra skin in other areas, but none of these impact my silhouette or my confidence like my breasts do, particularly while naked. Now that I'm turning thirty, and in celebration of the fact that I've kept the weight off for more than ten years, I've decided to let myself do something about it.

Initially, I believed I would need a lift rather than implants because of all of the loose skin and the moderate ptosis of my breasts. Additionally, I thought that would be the best option because it seemed that, at my healthy weight I was intended to have smaller breasts.

My first consultation was awful. The surgeon listened to absolutely nothing I was saying and just insisted on slapping the biggest possible breast implants he could on me and calling it a day. I'm not a crier, but I was so uncomfortable throughout that I cried when I got to my car.

My second consultation was better. She thought we should go with 190cc implants paired with a lollipop lift, but her prices were far out of my budget.

Call me goldilocks, but my third consultation was just right. I was impressed that Dr. Antimarino spent the majority of the consultation with me vs. having an aid collect all of my information and explain various aspects of the procedure. He listened intently to my goals and then gave me his honest professional opinion, concluding that my best option was a breast augmentation rather than a lift for multiple reasons. First, despite all of the excess skin on my breasts, my nipples were still above the inframammary fold, meaning that the ptosis was only mild. Second, he explained that he avoids performing breast lifts on women that are still of birthing/nursing age in order to avoid interfering with the breast tissue and mammary glands.

I was also very impressed with how he goes about his work. In a very "indulgent"-seeming industry, it was nice to speak with a surgeon that maintains certain standards through non-negotiables. He explained his reasoning for preferring sub-muscular implant placement and inframammary incisions (both concerning better results), as well as his insistence that implant size should be determined by patient anatomy rather than a desired a cup size. He gave me a range of implants to "try on" with my my sports bra and we loosely decided on a size. I was then briefed on the potential complications and the ins and outs of the procedure and given a quote. All in all, it was very refreshing.

I booked my surgery for April 8th, as well as a final sizing appointment a month prior in with, thank to researching on this website, I plan to ask a little more about the various profiles of implants. Fingers crossed!

Adding before photos to compare. I’m a little over 2 months pre-op at this point. I’ve downloaded the Natrelle app to try and get a better idea of profiles, but the results for the 3D imaging were kind of gimmicky, so I think I’ll just wait to discuss it with my doctor.

Surgery was Friday morning at 9:15, it all went very smooth, I was out by 10:30. Everyone at the surgery center was so incredibly kind. The first day after the surgery was tough, everything felt very tight and sore. I slept quite a bit, took my pain meds, and iced often. Waking up today felt surprisingly better, I had a lot more arm mobility than I expected to. Pics are from 9am this morning, so exactly 24hrs post-op. Very swollen and high and hard, so pretty much exactly as anticipated! Hoping the swelling goes down soon. I ended up with 340cc in the right and 400 cc in the left.
