One month progress

Can’t believe tomorrow makes 4 weeks post! The girls are looking so amazing already. My surgeon far exceeded my expectations. I didn’t have much of an under boob which they refer to as “constricted breasts” and the research I did on before and afters left me worried how they would turn out. I’m so incredibly thankful that they turned out perfect! And it’s only been a month. I still have some bruising on the lower halves of my boobs as they continue to drop and they are softening (the upper area is softening faster). I had my staples removed from my nipples yesterday and I get my stitches removed next week. I love them SO MUCH and am so thankful for my surgeon doing such spectacular work.

Both implants removed - fungus infection

A day or two after my 4 week update my worse bruised on the lower corner of my right breast opened. I took off my surgical bra at the end of the day and the bruise was leaking. I got a culture and all they could find was yeast. I got on antibiotics. A week later it was still leaking and two more areas on the bruise opened/were leaking. I got a topical antibiotic cream. Then 5 weeks post op, (a week ago) one of the spots that was leaking open to where the implant was exposed. My surgeon had me come in that day for an explant of that right implant. Upon explant my surgeon said there was a film around the implant. I spent 3 days in the hospital waiting on cultures and doing a bunch of blood work and tests. The only thing that came back was candida globrata. I got on antibiotics and anti fungal as candida/yeast is a fungus. The following Friday I came in for a check up and we could feel a hole in the bruise on the left intact breast on the side of my nipple. So we assumed it was the same thing and got the left implant removed as well. This is kind of a mystery and the surgeon and doctors best guess is that my candida levels went crazy due to antibiotics (like how you’re likely to get yeast infections after taking antibiotics) and that my immune system viewed the candida globrata as a forgoing object and went in overdrive and ate through the thin areas that were bruised. This has all the doctors involved kind of scratching their heads. The plan is to keep a drain in for 1 week, have it removed, and reaugment in about 5 months after I can heal and be sure the fungus infection is gone. At this point I’m just sad to be without my boobs. They were just starting to look great and I got the go ahead to stop using surgical bras and compression bands. I was so excited to start wearing all my cute new clothes. Before we reaugment in 5 months they’re going to put me on anti fungals to prevent this from happened if again. That’s all I’m worried about- this happening again.

Wow! That's awful you had to go through that! Good luck with your reaugmentation.

Thanks girl. It sucks but it is what it is. So hard not to wonder why it happened when I tried so hard to do everything “right”. I’m just telling myself it’s temporary and I’ll have my boobs back in a few months. They were looking so good and I loved them so much.

Wow I'm so glad you are ok, what a tough experience to go through. I also have (had?) constricted breasts worse than yours. I sometimes regret not going bigger due to lack of cleavage, and yours looked so fabulous... I hope you get your boobs back soon!!

Hi Meowmeow, thank you. It’s been really stressful with cultures coming back with different bacterial and fungal results. I’m on 5 medications right now. How long ago did you get yours done? You could always revise them and go bigger. I agree, with constricted breasts I think it’s better to go on the bigger side

I just got mine done last October, so coming up one year post op . I was afraid to go too big at once Bc I had barely any breast tissue. I hope the infection clears quickly and wish you a speedy recovery!!!

I totally understand. A part of me wonders if going so big contributed to the opening. Yours look great though! I just checked out your post. That’s always an option to go bigger in the future. Thank you, I can’t wait to get them put back in!

Hello! I'm sorry that all this happened to you. I hope you heal well and can get the surgery you want/deserve! I live in Honolulu and I loved Dr. S and wanted to go to him for my revision, but it was over my budget. Is Dr. S going to cover all the costs associated with this? Will you have to pay anything when you get your surgery once you are healed? I wish I could have gone to Dr. S, he really cares about his patients. Good luck and keep us updated!

Hi! I was actually just reading your reviews and consultation reviews and wanted to thank you for being so in-depth. I did have my revision with Dr. S about two weeks ago and everything is going great so far. He is absolutely amazing and did cover everything. He’s the standard for what doctor should do. Especially when we have complications within a year, I feel that they should absolutely cover what needs to be done unless of course it was from negligence on our part. Very happy for you that you got your vision as well. Wishing us both perfect healing and great results.
