13 days post op

WORTH IT$6,000
Today I am 13 days post op. I went to see my surgeon today and had half my stitches removed. I Will have the other half removed next week.

It has been quite the journey. I had my drainage tubes removed one week ago today. They were AWFUL! Unfortunately, the one going into my left armpit was hitting a nerve or something. When I moved, it would cause pains to shoot up my neck or down my arm. Having them removed was the best thing ever!
As of now, my breasts feel pretty good. They are slightly sore to the touch.

I am super happy with my results though.

Illness

Three days post op and I came down will some sort of nasty respiratory illness. Unfortunately, it has hit all 4 of my children and now myself.
Last night was a bit rough due to coughing and trying to hold my chest tightly to keep from anything getting messed up. Awaiting a call back from my doctor so we can determine what I can take to help.
I stopped taking pain pills yesterday, but still take Tylenol for pain when needed.
My right breast is being my problem child and is continuing to drain more the 25ml a day, so I must continue to keep the Jackson-Pratt Drains in (they are what is causing me the most discomfort.)
There really isn’t much of an update other than the fact that I am feeling so much less pain. I am very happy with my results.

Surgery day

I have waited so long for this day, and I am so proud it was come and surgery is over with.
My Mom and I went to the hospital and 4:45am this morning. We were immediately taken to a room, when I was instructed to change into a gown. A bit later, a nurse came in and had me scrub my chest with a solution and gave me an IV.
At 6:30am, they wheeled me back to the recovery room, where I slowly met each of the nurses and anesthesiologists that will be on my team. Everyone was so incredibly thorough and unbelievably sweet. My PS came in and greeted me when he first got there (he is truly amazing). He came back a few minutes later and marked me up and got me ready to go back.
At 7:30 am, I was given a medication in my iv to calm me down and immediately taken back to the OR. Once back in the OR, there was a team of amazing folks already in there and prepping everything. They moved me onto the operating table, gave me oxygen and within a few short minutes, I was knocked out.
The next thing I know, I was waking up to being wheeled. I couldn’t see, but I was talking to the nurses and asking what time it was (they said 10 something). I was taken to the recovery room, where it felt like I was only there just a few short minutes.
Once I was fully awake, I was wheeled back to my original room, where I stayed for an hour before being discharged.
The Lewis Gale hospital staff, along with my surgeon, were beyond incredible! I am soo thankful for each of them.

When I got home, I was in and out of sleep because I was tired. I took my pain meds at 10:20 am, and was only to take them every 8 hours. By the time 5pm rolled around, I was in an incredible amount of pain. It was almost unbearable (and I have a high pain tolerance). I believe the worst part is my drains that are in my armpits.
After I took my pain meds a little after 6:15pm, I began to feel better.
Soon after, my surgeon called to check on me and to see how I was doing. He truly is the nicest doctor.
As of now, I am continuing to rest. I cannot wait to see how these beauties look as they heal. So glad I made this decision!
