43 Y/o Mom of 2 – Motiva Ergonomix 230cc with Preserve Method – 6 Month Update (Dr. Mark Epstein, Hauppauge NY)
WORTH IT
I’m 43 years old and breastfed two children about 13 years ago. Over time I lost a lot of the volume I once had. My breasts became very flat and I went from having a fuller chest to looking like a small A cup. I always thought about breast augmentation, but I never seriously considered it because I assumed recovery would be painful, the results would look unnatural, and I would need to take significant time away from my active lifestyle.
My consultation with Dr. Mark Epstein in Hauppauge, NY was originally meant to just explore the idea. I didn’t expect to actually book surgery that day, but after meeting with him I felt extremely comfortable and confident in his expertise.
During the consultation he explained the Motiva Ergonomix implants and how they were designed to move and feel like natural breast tissue. He also took photos and showed me digital renderings of what my results could look like using 230cc implants. At first I thought 230cc sounded small, but the rendering showed a transformation from a small A to a full C that looked very natural and proportional for my body.
Dr. Epstein also discussed the option of the Preserve method, which is a newer technique that preserves the breast tissue and is significantly less invasive than traditional breast augmentation techniques. This approach results in smaller incisions, faster recovery, and very natural results.
Two things in particular made me feel confident choosing Dr. Epstein. First, he is a clinical investigator for Motiva implants. As someone who works in healthcare, I know how selective companies are when choosing investigators, so that gave me a lot of confidence in his experience. Second, he is one of the few surgeons in the United States trained in the Preserve method.
Once I weighed the pros and cons, the benefits clearly outweighed my concerns and I decided to move forward.
On the morning of surgery I had a brief moment of wondering if I should have gone bigger, but Dr. Epstein reassured me that because of the Preserve placement and the way the implants sit, they would look fuller than expected.
The procedure was done under twilight sedation rather than full general anesthesia, which I really appreciated because I didn’t have to worry about the typical side effects of general anesthesia.
When I woke up from surgery, I asked to see my results right away. I was given a mirror and was honestly so happy that I started cheering. The nurses in the room laughed and celebrated with me. I felt surprisingly good and alert.
About 45 minutes later I was able to get dressed and leave the surgery center. What surprised me the most was how little pain I felt. I took Tylenol the day of surgery and the day after, and that was all I needed. I had normal movement and was able to go about my day fairly normally.
The first couple of weeks were very manageable. The main thing I noticed was swelling, which initially made me wonder if I had gone too big, but that improved as the swelling went down. Dr. Epstein personally called me the first few days after surgery to check on me, which I really appreciated. His office even sent flowers during my recovery.
Around the second week I experienced nipple hypersensitivity, which I later learned is common as the nerves wake back up. Wearing pads in my bra helped a lot and that gradually resolved.
By week three I tried on some bikinis and that was the moment I really fell in love with my results. They looked exactly how I had hoped they would—full, natural, and proportional to my body. Even in my younger years I don’t remember loving my breasts as much as I do now.
My confidence improved in a way I didn’t expect. I didn’t realize how much the loss of volume had affected me until I saw how comfortable and confident I felt again in my clothes.
Now I am a little over six months post-op and just had my follow-up appointment. My recovery has continued to be amazing. My breasts feel incredibly natural—full, soft, and very squishy to the touch. They move naturally and truly feel like my own.
My incision has healed beautifully. It’s very small (about 3 cm), flat, and has faded into a light brown tone with no redness. It continues to fade and is barely noticeable.
I continue to receive compliments about how I look in clothes, and many people assume I’m just wearing a special bra to get that shape. Most days I’m actually not wearing one at all.
Dr. Epstein has continued to be extremely professional and attentive throughout the entire process. Even months later he and his staff are always welcoming and available if I have questions, and I always feel comfortable reaching out to the office.
Overall I am incredibly satisfied with my results. The Preserve method made recovery much easier than I expected, the Motiva Ergonomix implants gave me the natural look I wanted, and Dr. Epstein’s skill and care made the entire experience a very positive one.
