Surgery No.2
Hi Ladies,
I hope everyone is doing well despite all that’s going on in the world right now. I thought I would come on here with an update, as I have been meaning to for some time.
A few of you may have seen my comment on one of my pictures on here, where I mentioned that I wasn’t happy with the current appearance of my breasts.
On or about thé 4th of April, about 4 months of after my surgery I noticed that my breasts looked a little different than usual. I had actually noticed that something was slightly off before, as I used to check them all the time in the work toilets (the cubicle had a mirror lol) but assumed it was normal and they would settle into place.
I noticed a shadow that had formed under both of my breasts - although more prominent under my right. As I had already done a lot of research before my surgery, I immediately assumed this was double bubble deformity but later went online and looked for several reviews to confirm.
I contacted Dr Rezai’s office as soon as I noticed this issue via telephone in April and then sent an email with pictures. I was advised to visit the office the following week, where I was told that I was fine and the implants were just settling into place. I was also told that the weird separation of my breast tissue and implant when tensed was normal.
I took the advice and decided to monitor my breasts over the following months. To date I have followed all of the instructors given to me and so when I noticed that the issue was seemingly getting worse in September, I sent another email with additional pictures making it clear that something was obviously wrong.
I was again invited to the office for my breasts to be reviewed in person.
On this review, the Dr informed me that this was not double bubble but my implants were slipping and it would only get worse. He informed me that he should have used textured Mentor Siltex implants in the first instance so the implants could grip to my muscle and stay in place.
I was then told that as the issue would only get worse and that the best option would be to undergo another surgery where my current smooth Mentor implants would be replaced with Mentor Siltex implants.
I was also advised the shadow wouldn’t completely disappear from my right breast, as this is the distance between my old crease and new crease. Hopefully over time it will be less prominent as my breasts settle and begin to drop naturally.
I was advised about the issues with textured implants and the increased risk of BIA- ALCL. I was also told there would be a cost associated with the surgery.
I was initially told by Dr Rezai’s assistant that the surgery would be free as it is within the same year, however I think there may have been a misunderstanding here.
The anaesthetist fee was £250.
With Coronavirus I had to get a covid test, along with the other tests that are required. The cost of this is £250
The cost of the implants is £550.
Total cost of £1050 to undergo this corrective surgery.
Luckily, I do not have to pay any hospital fees as the surgery is taking place the same year. I was told that if this surgery was rescheduled to January because of the pandemic, I would then have to pay for the entire surgery again per the hospitals rules.
I was initially supposed to have the operation done in October but I felt it was a bit rushed following the appointment on September. I settled on a date in December.
I’m still quite happy with the service I receive from Dr Rezai’s clinic. He is friendly, makes time whenever I would like to come in and replies if I have any questions. One of the risks of surgery is that it may not go to plan and I don’t think this is something that can be foreseen. I pray this surgery is the final surgery and that there are no complications!

One month post op
So I’m finally posting my one month update, sorry it’s coming late! There isn’t much to say to be honest. My recovery has been really good, thank God!
I’ve been applying micropore tape every two days, applying bio oil every morning and wearing my sports bra day and night as instructed. I’m still only sleeping on my sides/back as well.
I haven’t really had any pain or anything like that. I get the odd twinge every now and then but that’s about it. I didn’t lose any sensation in my nipples after surgery, so nothing has changed there.
My implants are settling well so far and are quite soft to touch. My friend asked to touch them the other day and was surprised that they were so soft I’ll post a video with my next review.
I do feel like the muscle in my left breast is still quite tight - Dr Rezai says I should see the final results over the next few months.
My scars look quite good for one month post op. They’re about 4cm long and feel quite flat. As a black girl I was bit worried about dark scarring and keloids but so far so good!
To be honest, I haven’t paid much attention to them at all. I normally just wipe them with a baby wipe before replacing my tape. I will be applying bio oil and shea butter when I get the okay to stop using micropore tape, to help them fade even more.
If anyone is wondering, I’m about 5ft8 and weigh 71kg.
I hope this helps ladies! Please feel free to ask me any questions x
Tip that might be obvious to some haha - type your reviews out on the notes page first ladies, I had to retype this after losing it the first time round :(
