WORTH IT
Hi everyone,
My BA appointment is today and ahead of it, I thought I’d write a quick post in an attempt to “give back”... Real Self has been a huge part of my journey. I’ve spent countless hours reading other people’s posts and looking up different before/afters. Through it all I noticed a few things:
1. It was a challenge to find people who started off with my particular petite frame + cutie little baby breasts: 32AA/A depending on the fit.
2. It was an even bigger challenge finding people who went with low profile plus cohesive gel implants. The more common choice seems to be moderate profile/profile plus.
The motive behind my decision was that I wanted fuller breasts — small handfuls — but didn’t want anything that would take away from my slender profile, and quite frankly, moderate profile seems to have more projection than I would like.
That said! I read a few posts where people said their surgeon re-assessed CC or projection due to implant base width etc, so we’ll see. I measured 12.1 and 12.5, so low profile plus *just* fits. We’ll see! Ultimately, I have faith in my excellent surgeon, and if he tells me something will be right for me and give me the outcome I’m looking for, I’ll do it.
Amazingly, no nerves. Just excitement. The only thing weighing on me is the zero working out for 6 weeks piece. I’ve worked so hard to get into shape, and my body is finally where I want it. My arms are toned, I have abs... alas, I’ll do whatever needs to get done to aid in a speedy recovery and the best possible BA outcome.
See you on the other side!!

Post Op Day One
Posting up a quick 24 hour post op update for you!
Surgery was a breeze. Strangely enough, I wasn't the least bit nervous! Instead, I was full of excitement and overall fascination with the entire hospital process. When the time came, they walked me down the surgical wing and straight into the OR where I hopped onto the bed. I kind of wish I had my glasses on so I could look around. In attendance: my doc + anesthesiologist + 2 OR nurses. They were great. The energy in the room was optimistic and you could tell they really love what they do. Especially my doc who was cracking jokes. His bedside manner is second to none.
Coming out of GA was a bit like waking up from a really GOOD nap on a weekend. You know that feeling when you wake up a bit dazed and confused like "wowww that as a good nap, where am I? What time is it?" Overall my pain was very well managed. Like most other reviewers here, I went in expecting to come out feeling a lot worse. The nurses in recovery were great - they kept asking if I felt any pain? Nausea? My answer was a little yes to both, especially after having some water. I was fasting since 12 midnight the night before, and my surgery wasn't until 12:30pm the next day, so you can imagine...
Did the medication make me nauseous? Yes. Did I throw up? No. But there was one instance in the car where I had to ask my boyfriend to pull over because his driving was putting me on the edge of sickness, and then one more time when I got home. I've been taking Gravol since then alongside all my meds.
Overall, I haven't had much of an appetite. I'm keeping myself hydrated, and snacking on little bites here or there. Pain today is no worse than yesterday. I've been keeping myself consistent with the Percocet: 1 every 4 hours alongside my post-op antibiotics. I could technically take 2 percs, but 1 seems to be good enough. My breasts and nipples are a bit numb and tingly but overall, looking OK? Have to admit I'm getting some boob greed.

Can’t seem to edit the post, so adding to it here: I was remarkably lucid in post op... the nurses were shocked that I was so with it because most people are pretty loopy coming out of GA. So, for those of you concerned about the post-op sillies, don’t worry! It might not happen to you

Hopefully they’ll look bigger! I went with the smallest size of the three my PS suggested, and now I’m thinking I should have gone with his median reco of 330 moderate. Eee

Things look good so far. There will be a lot of changes in the upcoming weeks. Glad to hear that you are not in a great deal of pain!

Thanks!! Yes the pain has been fine. Mind you, I’ve been taking one Percocet every four hours so I imagine that’s taking a lot of the edge off. I’m going to try and space it out tomorrow and see if I can come off of it altogether by Saturday morning. I’d say the pain is VERY similar to the feeling you have the morning after a really hard workout class when you’re a bit out of shape and just getting back into a routine. If it weren’t for the surgery, I’d say this feels like upper body workout pain. Too many push-ups...

Post Op Day Two
Hi everyone: another quick progress update!
Overall pain levels have gone down today. I’m hopeful that starting tomorrow I can transition off the Percocet however, I started to develop some muscle cramps and sharp pinching pain in my left pectoral muscle. I’ll continue to watch it for now, and simply assume it has something to do with a giant gummy being shoved in underneath! Ha.
My body is still rather swollen as a whole. There’s bruising on my right breast. My feet are puffy and my entire torso is spongey. A lot of the localized swelling has also developed on my sides underneath my armpits (as you can see in my photo update)! Attractive huh?
Breasts still square and super warped looking, but now that I was finally able to shower today (YAY!!!) I was able to remove the gauze and Vaseline mesh so I can see more of my overall increase in bust size. I can’t say I did the best job of washing my hair, but a valiant effort was put into it, and hey, I feel human again. I’ll spare you the incision photos for now...
Before putting my surgical bra and tensor back on, I was able to apply some Stratamark silicone-based stretch-mark prevention gel + Arnica gel for the bruising/swelling. The last thing I want is a brand new set of breasts covered in stretch marks, so prevention prevention prevention.
The boob greed is still very real. My doc gave me three size suggestions during consult: his main reco + one reco down + one reco up. My choices were 280cc low profile plus, 330cc moderate profile, 365cc moderate profile. I ended up choosing 280cc low profile plus because the 330 felt too overwhelming and pointy, and I was having a hard time imagining it flatten out under my muscle. I didn’t even try the 365 on. Now that I’m seeing the final product, I’m thinking maybe I should have done 330. Time will tell I guess.
Things I haven’t been able to live without in PO recovery:
- Travel neck pillow: a life-saver since I’m sleeping propped up. My neck feels nicely supported. My head doesn’t roll around.
- Gravol: the blend of antibiotics and Percocet makes me super nauseous, so thank goodness for Gravol. The only downside is it makes me sleepy so I’ve been pretty out for the count.
- Plain Cheerios: It’s about all I can stomach in terms of food. I nibble on some whenever I take my meds. It’s funny because my friend was all about ketchup chips after her surgery because it’s all she could eat without feeling sick. I guess everyone develops a vice. You?
OK off I go. Speak again soon.

Looking good so far! :)

Can u get a scopolamine patch for nausea? I got one before my anesthesia because I have a history of getting puked with anesthesia or narcotics (which I’ve managed to avoid so far). But the patch seems to help a ton and let me eat regularly:)
