I’ve been using RealSelf to read so many helpful reviews, and I thought I should probably start my own so that maybe I can help someone else someday.
So here is the first part of my review, talking about my background, finding a surgeon, and booking my surgery, as well as getting prepared for surgery.
My surgery is in 10 days and I am getting all prepared and feeling excited about doing something I’ve been contemplating for so long. I guess I was always waiting for my boobs to appear, but they never really grew! Though pretty much all the women in my family have boobs, or large boobs rather, I did not. My original size is a 32A. I am a pretty active person, I enjoy walking, hiking, and running. My weight fluctuates from around 115 - 125.
I spent a lot of time really thinking if this was the right thing for me, how would handle it emotionally and psychologically, and making sure that my motivation was for myself, not for anyone else. And so, at this point in my life, I realized it was the right time for me emotionally, physically, and financially, and I was ready to embark on doing something to treat myself!
It all happened much quicker than I anticipated. Last March I had scheduled some consultations, but canceled since I thought, maybe this isn’t the right time for me and I should reconsider a little bit longer.
I continued to do some more research online and found a local surgeon and was very impressed with the photos of his work and also talked to a few people I knew who had their surgeries with him. I scheduled a consultation and saw him the next week. He and I were very much on the same page with what I was looking for and I came in with my notebook of prepared questions. He already had answered all of them without having to go through each question! That part really put me at ease and made me feel like this was the right surgeon and the right time to go ahead with my breast augmentation. I decided I wanted more fullness be roundness and to be in the C or D range, using a silicone implant. He suggested 3 sizes for me: 325, 345, or 365 in a smooth moderate profile, under the muscle, with a crease incision. That’s what I was hoping for!
After my consultation, I knew this was the right thing, so put down the deposit for my surgery and scheduled a date. I then came in one week later for my preop appointment, where I went over paperwork, discussed preop prep, paid for the surgery, and tried on sizers.
I used the surgical bra the doctor’s office provided to try on the sizer implants. At first I thought the 325 sizers were just huge (!), going from pretty much flat-cheated to so large. But as I kept trying on the other two sizes, I realized they were all definitely larger that what I currently have, but they actually looked very proportionate with my body, and we’re what I was always missing LOL! I noticed they made my waist look even smaller, so that was a benefit I didn’t directly realize, which is great. So, I decided on the 365, with my rationale being that I would likely regret it later if I went smaller. When I checked the Natrelle Inspira sizing chart, I compared the actual size of each implant in centimeters and projection. There was not an enormous difference between the three, so I thought I would be most happy with the larger 365cc.
So after that, I went to pick up my prescriptions and the Hibeclens wash I am supposed to use daily 5 days before surgery.
I hope I did not choose a size that is too big... but I liked it when I tried on the sizers. We will see! I can’t wait!
