3.8 liters of fat taken out, uneven butt, no definition & confirmed fibrosis

Worst BBL Experience

I had a BBL with Dr. SEJ on 02/09/2022.
Let me start with I will post photos to back this review…
First off I was advised the surgery would last 6 hours and how Dr SEJ was a “perfectionist” per my first email inquiring on scheduling in 2019 and how much the procedure would cost with the receptionist, Daisy.
Fast forward close to three years of saving for this costly procedure, I arrive to the office the morning of the procedure and I was greeted by Daisy. After signing forms, taking pre-op photos I was taken to the OR room. There were two nurses, both of which did not greet me, have a smile or any positive affirmations that I was expecting to receive from nurses of a doctor I was paying high $ in Beverly Hills.
My interaction with the anesthesiologist Dr Freeman was great. I thought he was nice and informative to my concerns and I never once got nauseous after waking up or the days following the surgery from the patch he provided me.
Finally, I had my first in person interaction with Dr SEJ. He sketched me with a black sharpie, (only took 3 sharpies for one to finally work for him to be able to sketch his lines).
He asked if I decided on the abdominal etching and I was indecisive on this decision because I wanted lipo on my entire stomach but his reasoning I should avoid lipo in the center of my stomach was because I had stretch marks on the the very lower abdomen from my pregnancy and if he did full lipo there it may cause “irregularities”.
I trusted Dr SEJ for the amount of time I followed him on IG and told him “I guess so, whatever you suggest”. He replied: “if you aren’t satisfied we can discuss it at your follow up”.
Waking up from surgery, I was in a-lot of pain. I was discharged at 1:45 PM but my main concern was the time not utilized in surgery. I was on the surgery table by around 7:40AM and out of surgery and in the recovery room by 12:45PM according to my paperwork. That is maybe 4 hours of surgery so not the complete 6 hours I was advised in my consultation email.
Fast forward to two weeks post op, I was highly unsatisfied with my butt shape/size. All my family and friends had comments on “it looks swollen but it doesn’t seem much bigger and there’s barely any shape on the top”. This confirmed it wasn’t in my mind. I followed all his post op instruction and wore my corset strictly for three months.
Dr SEJ attitude as a doctor is POOR. When I discussed my concerns at the follow ups he dismissed me and said I needed to do the “deluxe” for more definition in my butt at my 2 week over the phone follow-up.
I gave it many months and fast forward to June 2022 at my second follow-up in person, he comes in and is immediately boasting how well I look. I immediately burst into tears (many months of emotions trying to accept the work he given me but in the end it was UNACCEPTABLE, MEDIOCRE work). I show/tell him my concerns and he was not accepting of it. The weird part was the remarks he said at this visit. Saying “I was a pretty girl” *proceeds to touch my head* and says “that’s what’s wrong”, basically inducting I had mental or self image issues “that he wants a Ferrari but that’s never going to happen”, indicating what I’m expressing I want could never happen?
I was so shocked that a surgeon in Beverly Hills with the credentials he carries showed this poor beside manner for his paying patient.
He kept pushing I needed a tummy tuck because I have “poor quality skin”. I had a child 10 years prior at 16 years old, and DO NOT have any muscle issues or “Diastasis recti” in my abdomen, besides some minor stretch marks on my LOWER stomach (that I DONT care about enough to get a TUMMY TUCK)!! So I ask “ok what about the deluxe you mentioned to me at my first follow up”? He advises I could not have arm liposuction because of my skin quality and that I would need an arm lift. (At this point I was disgusted because I’m almost 5’8” and have never gained weight more than 168lbs and my arms are very long and always have been the smallest limb on my body). Complete BS! And contradictory to his 2 week follow up recommendations.
Finally he was about to walk out when I asked him “how are we going to rectify these issues”?He stated that the back fat I was complaining about was “swelling” and to come back in four months and he would determine whether it was fat or swelling and make adjustments accordingly.
Because of that I fly back to CA from GA in September 2022 and this visit he brings Kelcie from the front office who I never met in person into the room with him. He begins by comparing the pre op photos and is completing forgetting about our visit just a few months prior. I bring up “so do you not remember what we spoke about last visit”? He obliviously smirks and says “NoOo”. I say “about you determining on making adjustments to the liposuction from my back where it’s uneven and the sacrum area being very UNDEFINED”. He said “there’s no fat on you, I would go in there and just be sucking blood out of you”.
I advise him I had two other plastic surgeons opinions, Dr Gabbay and Dr Kohen in Beverly Hills, both who confirmed I do not need a tummy tuck, would benefit from JPlasma for skin tightening- because I don’t have much collagen in my skin naturally and what corrections they could do for another round of a BBL. Sej immediately got defensive and said “Well go to them then, I’m done” and walks out.
To say I was surprised is an understatement, I was told by the previous surgeon I saw to not count on him making these so called adjustments. I respectfully walk to Daisy the office manager and ask to speak to her, not wanting to disturb the patients in the waiting room. She brought me to another room, we went over all same concerns and I explain to her how is he going to ask me to fly back out to CA knowing he was never going to make these adjustments. The best she could do was take photos of me and then speak to him and call me back with what he says later that day. Dr SEJ then walks in and is again boasting “look how great she looks”! And then proceeds to tell me “I’m skinnier than him” and makes me touch his upper back and pinch his “fat”. Stated not even “Jesus could give me the results I wanted”.
To summarize, I had 3.8 liters of fat taken out at surgery (Although promised max lipo of 5Liters), an uneven butt with no definition especially on top, no “butt crack lengthening” that he shows on all his videos, uneven liposuction on the back, and confirmed fibrosis on my left/right lumbar region of my abdomen. To this day 1.5 years after, I still have these slight bruising like marks on those areas of my stomach.
I wanted to finally post a review on every platform I can post to get the truth out on Dr Sejal Patel. This was by far the worst first time Plastic surgery experience I’ve endured. This doctor posts so much of the same IG photos and surgery videos on his Snapchat and after actually having the surgery and still following him on these platforms I’m realizing I screwed myself by choosing the doctor I claimed for so long to be “the best”. HA!
Please ladies do your research, read reviews and chose carefully! I hope taking my time to explain the best I could without babbling to prevent another person feeling and enduring what I have from Dr Sejal Patel.
