Tall Girl 6 Month BBL Results and Excited for Another

I had my BBL/lipo 360 in Chicago with Dr Raine on March 30, 2022. Upon looking at post op results for BBLs, I was only ever seeing shorter girls, so I really had no idea if the shape I desired would even look good on me! I’m 5’10, for reference.
I had gained A LOT of weight during covid and missed my naturally leaner frame, but I also really wanted curves (I was shaped like Gumby pre weight gain… not a single curve)
I signed up for my surgery in summer of 2021 for that December. Come November, I realized that I wasn’t near the weight I wanted to be for the surgery, so I sucked up the $500 rescheduling fee for February. Come to find out, the administration at Mia Aesthetics did not put this down in the schedule at all, so they bumped my surgery for March 30. Not entirely convenient, but oh well. More time to lose weight.
Within 60 days of the surgery, I got the labs and did everything I had to do. I didn’t listen to the people on YouTube who had a huge list of crap to buy. I hate waste and clutter, so I kept it simple:
pedialyte, dollar store shower curtain to line my bed with, baggy clothes, maxi pads to put on the incisions, throwaway linens, low carb/high fat food, a thermometer, extra strength Tylenol, a black robe, hibiclens (already a shower staple for me) and that was about it for the early stages. I was laying there all day- what could I possibly need? I stand by this, guys! Less is better. Save your money for the massages.
Mia Aesthetics called the night before pre op at 7pm to tel me what time my pre op would be. I was pretty nervous because I hadn’t heard from anyone all day and tried calling their office to no avail. I know surgeries get cancelled all the time and sh*t happens, so I was getting very worried. FYI, you actually don’t speak to anyone from the Chicago office. You’re directed to Miami’s location. I finally reached Miami’s office and they confirmed that someone would call that night.
I will admit that the difficulty it is to reach someone there pre surgery is pretty alarming. You’re already tense and you’re spending a lot of money, so I was hoping for a more communicative pre surgery experience. For me, that really wasn’t the case. I recommend this place wholeheartedly and my doctor was a dream, but Mia Aesthetics is notorious for being very difficult to reach (look at their comments on Instagram) If you decide to go with them, just know that everything will work out and you just have to be patient with reaching someone. They’ll get back to you eventually, but it definitely won’t be expediently. Everyone is extremely nice, though.
So finally, someone called at 7pm two days before my surgery to schedule my pre op. I went early the next morning at like 6:30am and got fitted for a faja. I bought two stage 1 fajas through them and their BBL kit, which included lipo foams, ab boards, a BBL pillow and a funnel thing to go to the bathroom standing. They took my vitals and weight and gave me the prescription to go fill at the pharmacy. 12 oxy, amoxicillin, and some anti nausea pills (I paid out of pocket and not through my insurance and it was only like $65 at CVS)
The next morning, my guy dropped me off for surgery! The facilities are clean and easy to get to in the city. There’s a parking lot for convenient parking and we spotted several hunched over girls who had their surgeries the day before and there were limping across the parking lot like zombies and being guided inside to their post ops by their personal caregivers.
The office girls were super sweet and the wait wasn’t long. I was number two in line and was ushered in right after I finished filling out the forms. I had my BBL/lipo 360 in Chicago with Dr Raine on March 30, 2022.

Dr Raine came in and he was so warm and wonderful. He was so informative and kind and listened to my concerns and answered my questions.
Other doctors on Real Self told me that I would have to get a tummy tuck and a back lift because I had a prominent belly and back rolls (no children, though!) Dr Raine said that he was confident I would have good results and he said I may have some loose skin on my back after that would look like rolls, and only time will tell. He appreciated my wish pics and said that the sizes I wanted for my butt and hips were appropriate for my height and frame. I stressed that I wanted natural, but noticeable, and he agreed to that (wish pics attached)
I did the drug and pregnancy test after not being able to urinate. The anesthesiologist had to come in and administer something to make me go to the bathroom. They brought me to the OR and I was a lot less nervous than I thought I would be. A nurse told me that she liked my lips as the anesthesiologist told me that he was going to administer something to make me sleepy. I just remember saying “thanks… I get them done with Karissa at New Image” and then it was lights out.
I woke up in what felt like moments later. I was laying on my stomach and felt very cold. I had a strong pain under my boobs, and I looked down to see my boobs soaked in lymph from an open incision under them. That was really the only pain that I had felt initially- a slight burning sensation from the under boob incision. I heard a girl wailing from behind the curtain next to me. I was relieved to not be her.
My boyfriend came to pick me up and they wheeled me outside to his car. I remember getting up from the wheelchair and literally jumping in the back of his Subaru Forester. He and the nurse were very surprised by how agile and perky I was right after surgery, and I know it was definitely the affects of the anesthesiologist and the adrenaline of the whole thing. I was bragging to my boyfriend about how I didn’t think I would need to take the oxy because I felt great.
Well.
I got home and immediately felt this awful ache in my belly button (an incision spot). I couldn’t get comfortable and it felt like a stabbing/ burning feeling. I forced myself to eat and took an oxy. 45 minutes later, nothing happened. I was still ailing. I took another oxy and then within maybe 20 minutes, all was well.
The post op was the next day. I paid for three massages with Mia Aesthetic and it was scheduled right after the post op in the same room for convenience. I saw my results for the first time and was floored. No loose skin like the creature from Pan’s Labyrinth! My love handles, which were forever causing me to look boxy, were entirely gone. I had hips and a tiny waist and a big swollen butt. It was big and boxy at first, but I wasn’t worried at all because I knew it would take time to settle (see pics!)
I leaked all over the room from every incision. The girl came to do the massage and I screamed the entire time (take your pain killers before your massages, if you can! You’ll thank me later) and thought I was going to pass out. I consider myself pretty tolerant of pain, but that was next level. My skin was numb and felt like when your foot falls asleep. It was the strangest thing.
I got another massage through Mia and then met a massage therapist named Sapphire that day who visits you at your home to do the massages. I recommend her 1000000000000000x. You pay a small travel fee and then whatever package you want. Total, I think I had 8 lymphatic massages and then 8 cavitation sessions with her (also highly recommend cavitation sessions after). She is so knowledgeable about post surgery care (she had a BBL/360herself and has the kindest heart and she is super affordable. My girl will snatch you off the TABLE. Her prices are very reasonable and she will have you screaming and laughing at the same time. Those massages are no joke, but it was nice to be in such great care.
My most sincere advice would be to budget in the cost of the massages. I couldn’t imagine not having them. If you’re in Chicago, I’d love to offer up Sapphire’s info. If you’re traveling, she will come to your hotel/Airbnb and take care of you.
I’m currently about 7 months post op and I love my results. I lost a lot of volume in my hips, which makes me sad because I really wanted bigger hips. They’re still bigger than they were originally, though! That’s no fault of the great Dr Raine- this is simply what happens with this type of procedure! My butt is still big and fluffy, and my waist is tiny. I ordered a stage 3 faja, which I highly recommend, and waist trained 23/7 for the first 4 months. I really changed my diet and eat mostly low carb/ high fat foods.
Obviously the lipo did A LOT and changed my entire shape, but I also lost additional weight after from just from eating healthy. My body was constantly changing those first 4 months! It’s incredible to experience, truly.
I am going to schedule a round 2 bbl for summer of 2023 with Dr Raine again. I would definitely recommend this surgery for anyone who really wants to put in the work and make their body how they want it to be. It sounds so cliche, but it really changed my life in so many ways. 10/10 I would recommend Dr Raine!!!
