Severe Complications, Painful Masses & Uneven Lipo After BBL/Lipo 360 Mons and Bra Line
Surgery info: Avana Plastic Surgery, Dallas Tx, by Dr. Mihail Climov on 3/13/26. Procedures performed: Lipo 360, lipo to mons and bra line, and BBL.
Update. I finally received my pre-op photos for comparison to now at 10 weeks post-op. I am so humiliated and tired of being in pain from the lumps on my sides that multiple surgeons have told me cannot be corrected or “fixed” without revision surgery. This is not the shape or outcome that was discussed or asked for.
The large upper/outer hip masses, abnormal contouring, and overall shape concerns were visibly present within 24–48 hours of surgery and continued progressing over the following weeks rather than resolving. I was repeatedly reassured that it was “just swelling,” but the areas later became infected, resulting in a six-day hospitalization around two weeks post-op, followed by seromas and oily fluid collections around weeks 5–6. The masses have since hardened and remain painful. Massage, compression, and normal healing have not resolved them.
I have now consulted with six plastic surgeons, had CT scans performed, and received outside medical opinions expressing concern regarding the technique and fat placement involved. I have been told this appears consistent with overfilling and improper placement leading to tissue damage and fat necrosis. Two surgeons specifically stated in writing that, in their opinion, the outcome was the result of incorrect surgical technique.
The pain has affected nearly every part of my daily life. I cannot lay or roll on my sides without pain, hold my daughter against my hips comfortably, exercise normally, or tolerate pressure against the areas. Even wearing a swimsuit for a few hours recently caused sharp, shooting pain severe enough to bring me to tears because the fabric rubbed against the masses.
I also underwent repeated aspirations/drainage attempts during recovery and continued being told to wait for swelling to improve despite the worsening condition and ongoing pain. I tried for weeks to work through these concerns privately through repeated follow-up visits, aspirations/drainage procedures, imaging, and ongoing communication before deciding to share my experience publicly.
Beyond the painful masses, the liposuction itself appears very uneven and left me with little waist definition compared to what was discussed pre-operatively. This surgery has been devastating physically, emotionally, and financially. It has become my biggest regret, and now I am facing the reality of needing major revision surgery simply to try to restore a more normal appearance and quality of life.
