4 months post

The recovery for this procedure is long. I am still tender in my mid section 4 months post, and there is still residual swelling around my stomach and flanks. I feel very tight in that section so a lot of massage and stretching helps. Overall I am happy with my result, it is very subtle and no one would know I got something done unless I told them. I have had a lot of compliments that I bounced back quickly from childbirth. I do wish my waist was smaller but I understand that post children it has widened and that is something that can't be fixed.

Mum of 3 Got my Shape Back

I am a 34 year old mum of a gorgeous 3 year old and one set of twins (8months old). Before kids I felt like I had a nice shape to my body but after kids, although I luckily lost the weight very quickly and didn't have stretch marks, I had lost all my shape. My butt went flat and my waist went very straight in line with my hips which was my biggest issue. I have always been on the slim side but after kids just felt very shapeless and unfeminine, so I decided to do something about it. During this year I am lucky enough to be off work caring for my kids, and during Covid can't get out much. I thought I would never get this opportunity again, as I have to go back to work next year, and the clinic had a cancellation so I took it on short notice, moved into my mum's for a few weeks and hired a nanny for 10 days.
I told Dr Ajaka I was not interested in looking like a Kardashian, I just wanted a bit of shape to my booty and a slim waist again. Definitely not in the market for a huge butt. Because I am on the slim side (58kgs / 128pounds) he said I would have to get fat from more areas. I was not interested in gaining any weight for the surgery. He suggested to lipo these areas:
• Upper and Lower Abdominal
• Flanks
• Upper back
• Knees
• Inner thighs
• Arms
Day 1 - op at 6.30am, I have to admit i did feel a bit rushed into surgery. I would have liked more of an opportunity to talk to the Doctor and more thoroughly go through my goals. But I guess they must have understood because it looks pretty much exactly what I wanted so far.
I was home in bed by around 2pm. The worst was the drive home, I felt so sick. Very nauseous and unable to eat anything. Able to walk around but not for long due to nausea. Not in a whole heap of pain as the anaesthesia was still in effect, just very stiff and feeling sick.
Dr Ajaka had put 575cc's into each butt cheek. Quite modest considering I am 170cms (5'7")
Day 2 - able to get up and move around for a few hours at a time but still quite nauseous and still not able to eat. Was able to hold my boys for a few minutes each, and able to move around ok but feeling very groggy and drugged up. Although I naturally sleep on my tummy, the compression garments and binder make it difficult to breathe or move comfortably in bed so sleeping is very difficult. Heaps of fluid leaking at night, extremely gross. Had my first lymphatic drainage massage today back at the clinic, which was very gentle and did not hurt.
Day 3 - decided to stop taking the hardcore pain medication as I think it was contributing to the nausea. Felt a little better after I stopped it, now only on paracetamol and ibuprofen every 4 hours except at night I would take panadeine forte. Able to pick the boys up and go for short walks with them while using a sling. Nanny is doing most of the work though. Had my first shower by myself although I wouldn't recommend it. Felt like a different person after a shower but not for long, lots of fluid leaking & still very messy.
Day 4 - definitely feeling better day by day. If I keep on top of the pain by using OTC medication it is definitely manageable. Moving is hard but more because of the binder than the pain. My 3 year old came home today after a few days at her aunt's house so now the real work begins :)
So far, the hardest thing has been sleeping comfortably and bending over. With minimal pain medication I can walk and move around relatively painlessly albeit a bit stiff.
Day 5 - sleep is getting a little easier as I have decided not to wear the binder at night even though I am not supposed to remove it. I literally can't breathe with it on! Anyway I figure air is essential so what can I do.
I am definitely getting better every day and less leakage although there is still a fair bit. Nanny is off today so just my husband and I taking care of the kids.
Day 6 7 8
These are the days I felt the most improvement in my mobility. By day 7 with a bit of effort you would be able to return to a cruisy job with a lot of standing and walking. Taking care of young kids is more difficult but more so because due to the binder and board in my front, it's hard to bend at the hips. I have two days left of a nanny hopefully it's enough. I am doing my own lymphatic drainage as well as going to cosmos to get them done, the nurse there showed me how to push everything towards the drains using oil. Doesn't hurt too bad any more. Still very swollen in my abdomen hips and legs, but my waist looks right.
One thing I will say is to make sure your drains aren't blocked, mine were and it was so gross. I had no idea coz fluid was still coming out.
Days 9 10 11 12
Every day gets easier, except for the compression garments which is a royal pain in the ass. It is leaving major indents on my skin around my rib cage, which feels like a ring of fire. Everywhere else is fine but my skin around my ribs feels like it's going to fall off after 8 hours in the garment and binder. Against all good judgement I am wearing just the body suit garment all day and taking off the binder and upper arms/bust body suit for most of the day because I literally can't function in it I am that uncomfortable. It's like the arm/bust garment was made for someone 4 inches shorter than me or something. For anyone looking to go with cosmos I would highly recommend going on the Marena Recovery website (this is the brand of garment they use) and double checking the sizing of the garments they fit you with. Because I had my arms done, the nurse who fit me wanted to make sure the arms were snug in the 2XS size on me, which they are, but the pay off is it is way too tight around the underbust which is where all my discomfort is.
Anyway apart from that I'm feeling totally fine just a bit of numbness around the mid section and all the areas done feel a bit like bruising. There are a lot of lumps and bumps under my skin especially in the abdomen, back, sides and thighs.
Day 12 I had the last of my drains out thankfully, probably a few days overdue.
So far I think the results look good. I'm still swollen alot around the mid section especially in my lower abdomen so hoping this resolves in the coming weeks. My butt has gotten a bit softer and I think once my swelling resolves it will hopefully look really nice. More than my butt I am most excited to see my waist slimmed down and patiently awaiting the swelling, lumps and bumps under the skin to go away.
