MTF BBL Surgery
I am a 40+ MTF and I have had several surgeries through the course of my life time as a part of transitioning.
I started my transition late in life. As a result my body development has been strongly influenced by testosterone for a large portion of my years.
For the most part I have been happy with my transition results and what hormone therapy has been able to accomplish. But one problem area for me has always been the shape of my body and the associated body fat distribution.
In early 2016 I contacted the Cirumed Clinic (Dr. Aslani's team) for a BBL evaluation. The clinic was quick to respond and answered all my questions. They made several recommendations and clearly explained the pro’s and con’s to the options I had available to me. In the end I scheduled my surgery for early Nov which gave me close to 6 months to gain as much weight as I could.
The day of the surgery I met Dr. Aslani in person. He did a final evaluation and explained to me what he was going to do. His team tried their best to make me as comfortable as possible for which I was really grateful of. In the operating room he had a radio going and offered me my choice of music to listen to while under anesthesia. I have to say in all my surgeries the care up to the surgery with Dr. Aslani was by far the best. Although I was really scared (me and my anxieties) his team tried their very best to assure and show me they really cared.
Before you know it the next thing I find myself waking up in my hospital room. Holy cow… you read about the pain and you would think having done all my other surgeries I would have been prepared… but noooo! I hurt like hell all over.
Dr. Aslani soon showed up and was trying to talk to me and I have no clue what he was saying and at that moment I could care less too! The nurses came in and gave me pain medication and that helped alleviate a lot of the pain and discomfort I was feeling. I slept restlessly for the first day.
The next day there was Dr. Aslani again (this time I was more attentive) and he explained what he was able to do. He showed me photos of the pre and post op pictures and I was just sooo surprised and blown away in what he was able to do. I found Dr. Aslani funny, very approachable and I definitely believe he is an expert in his field.
His team would make periodic visits and check up with me at the hospital. They did an awesome job of answering my questions and giving me information to help me be as comfortable as possible.
As good as things were with Dr. Aslani and his team and the Cirumed clinic the Hospital Quirónsalud Marbella was the the absolute direct opposite. The nurses, on the ward I was in, could care less how well their patients were doing.
I would never willingly go back to the Quiron hospital in Marbella ever again – especially for the cost of the hospital room and stay. I am a very easy patient… I have a large tolerance for pain and generally I only call for assistance from nurses when I really really need help.
The nurses at Quiron hospital were completely indifferent to their patients. On one occasion they never showed up to provide me with pain medication… I sat their for almost 2 hours hitting the call nurse button every 15 – 20 minutes and all I got from them over the intercom in the room was ‘Si!’ And it wasn’t only me who had problems as I over heard a patient in a nearby room yelling at the nurses for their lack of care on several occasions.
One big contributing problem was that when you would press the call nurse button, there on the wall was an intercom that they would answer you on. This was the first hospital that I have ever been in where the nurse would not come to you in your room… instead they answer on an intercom. There is no personal touch or care at the Quiron hospital. All you get is a ‘Si!’ from the intercom speaker.
On my last day as I was leaving I was saying good bye to everyone on my ward and there in the nurses station sat three nurses and not a single one of them looked up to say good bye or wish me fair well. I have asked myself… why are they nurses if they don’t want to be nurses??
I gave my feedback on my hospital stay experience to Dr. Aslani and he said he had heard the same from other patients and he was considering moving his surgery practice to a neighboring hospital or city which I hope he does.
So here I am 2 months post op and I have to say I am really satisfied with Dr. Aslani’s work. You can see in the attached photos what a difference a good doctor can make in a persons body shape.
Dr. Aslani understood that my primary wish was to have a more feminine shape. My biggest request was for larger hips.
Dr. Aslani pulled as much fat from my back, my front, my sides and even from my inner thigh areas in an effort to reshape and give me what I was asking for.
My surgery had the Dr. move the bulk of my upper body fat to my hips. My understanding is that some of the fat went to parts of my butt as well to help with the overall shape. I think he nailed it and you can especially see that from the photos.
Over the last 2 months I have had to wear a compression garment. For the first 6 weeks after surgery you wear compression garments 24 hours a day. And the following 6 weeks you only need to wear the garments for 12 hours out of the day. In my follow up emails with Dr. Aslani and his team they have continued to be responsive and helpful.
Recovery has been long and not very easy for me. But as time goes by things to do get easier. The hospital aside, I would definitely do this procedure again and I would select Dr. Aslani to be my surgeon.
