Most Traumatic Experience

I’ve been waiting to write this review for a full year. Now that I’ve had a revision and can move on from the trauma I experienced from my surgery with Dr. Lin I’m ready to write it. There were so many red flags, I take full accountability that I should not have went through with the surgery. But here’s my story. I had my surgery in 2021. I originally wanted to just do lipo 360 but was talked into a BBL by his nurse who had just had one (not by him by the way which I recently found out). They got my labs, and then said…oh sorry we waited too long to send the sample out and now it’s bad can you get labs again. Weird but no problem. Got labs redone and texted his nurse. Who responded saying great thanks, Dr. Lin says your young and healthy so we don’t really need them but just to have on file….this was really shocking and strange to me, but again I think I was so set that I was just putting blinders on. I deleted her texts, I wish I would have saved them for receipts because that is literally what she said. I also was told that “we’ve had people go to work the next day” after a BBL. So I planned to take just a few days off work. Again, naive. However I feel like this is a WILD statement for a doctor to make after having 2 bbls personally. Screams sales man to me and total disregard for quality patient care and recovery. I also was told directly by his nurse that I could continue to take a prescribed diuretic with no problem prior to surgery. (Big no no and likely contributed to the severe dehydration after) And confused spironolactone with accutane? Seemed like she really had no idea what she was talking about. I also was not told about massages or recovery houses until right before my surgery; guess what, everyone was booked. Now let’s talk about surgery day. I reviewed my goals with Dr. Lin and he goes “oh no, that would look weird”…..and so I was like uh okay I mean he does this all day so I will trust his judgement. Now let’s skip to recovery. I wake up in recovery naked in a bed soaked with blood. The nurses are debating on how much fluid to give, one was saying two liters and one was saying 1 liter. They ended up giving me one liter, threw my faja on and shoved some foams in it once I asked them “aren’t I supposed to have foams?”…literally just threw them in and did not properly place them. Fast forward to getting home. After a few hours I started to get severe leg cramps (I was consistently hydrating). I contacted the coordinator who said Dr. Lin said it was fine and to just continue drinking Gatorade. The cramps started to go all they way up to my hip and would cramp for 10+ minutes at a time to where I couldn’t move and was in excruciating pain. I went to the ER, my heart rate was 160 and I was severely pale and out of it. My hemoglobin was 8 (I was having a ton of blood loss due to poor compression). They gave me 4-5 bags of fluid and the cramping ceased. I ended up staying in the ER for 12 hours to stabilize, I had severe dehydration due to them removing 5L of fat and only replacing 1L of fluids. Again, seems negligent. Dr Lin called me, didn’t seem too concerned and was like yeah this is typical but if you felt the need to go to the ER then I’m glad you did. THIS IS NOT NORMAL FOR SURGERY. I felt constantly gaslit by him. I ended up with a 5k hospital bill. The hospital also accidentally threw away my faja and when I asked his surgery coordinator for a new one she said “I don’t think we do that” so really I never had a properly fitting faja. For a week I continued to have racing heart, couldn’t eat and couldn’t sleep I was in so much discomfort. Then there was my body, none of the goals I wanted were achieved. It’s almost like he just decided what he was gonna do regardless of what my goals were. Total lack of attention to detail, my body wasn’t the worst but not worth the money at all. Due to my body being so different than what I expected or wanted I spiraled into a deep depression that lasted about 3 months. I also had chronic pain in my back hips and butt for 8 months. I went to my first few follow ups and due to his constant disregard for my concerns I decided to not go back. He not his nurse ever called or checked in to see why I didn’t have my follow ups. It was truly such a traumatic experience on so many levels I felt I couldn’t be the only one with this experience. I would never, ever recommend him. Now that I had a revision (and vastly different experience) I feel confident in writing my truth. Maybe you have had a great experience with him. And I’m happy for those. But, I’m sure there’s others that may have had an experience like me. And I want us to be seen.
