Expensive Surgery – Left Cold, Unheard and Deeply Disappointed
I did not write this review immediately after surgery because I genuinely hoped my concerns would improve with time. Now, almost two years later, I feel ready to share my experience.
I chose Dr Aslani after reading extremely positive online reviews and seeing impressive results on social media. Based on that, I trusted him and invested close to €15,000 in surgery.
On the morning of surgery, I spoke with the doctor for approximately five minutes while he marked my body. My coordinator, Abi, was kind during the booking process.
After surgery, I woke up extremely unwell with persistent vomiting, severe discomfort, and a very dry mouth. I stayed overnight and felt very poorly.
At my one-week review appointment, I saw the doctor briefly. He commented that I looked like I was in agony. I told him I was. He responded that I “shouldn’t be” in that much pain one week post-op and ordered an ultrasound due to swelling in my abdomen. No fluid was found.
I was then placed on a drip for four hours without a clear explanation as to why.
During this time, I was left alone in a room without clothes or even a blanket and was freezing. I repeatedly pressed the buzzer because I needed assistance to use the bathroom, and no one came. I had to message my coordinator directly before a nurse finally attended. I was lying there anxious, cold, confused, and not properly informed about what was happening or why I was on a drip.
After those four hours, I was told I could leave. I requested to speak to the doctor because I felt unsettled and wanted reassurance. He was in and out of his office but did not come to see me.
After paying such a significant amount of money, I found it extremely disappointing that the surgeon did not take even a few minutes to speak with me when I clearly needed clarification and reassurance. I genuinely felt that once payment was made, patient care was no longer a priority.
The clinic also uses a driver for transport, whom I personally would not recommend. During my experience, she was frequently on the phone while driving, speeding, and arguing with other drivers. This added further stress during an already vulnerable time.
Regarding aftercare, I had to initiate contact three days after surgery. I expected proactive follow-up rather than having to chase communication myself.
Two weeks post-surgery, I noticed visible bumps and uneven contouring on my hips and legs. I was told this was normal swelling and advised to continue wearing compression garments. I wore my faja 23 hours a day and attended three lymphatic massages per week.
At four weeks, the unevenness appeared more pronounced. Again, I was reassured it was swelling.
By September 2024 (surgery was May 2024), I raised serious concerns about a visible horizontal ridge above my belly button that was not present before surgery. That ridge now runs across my abdomen and creates a noticeable indentation. It gives the appearance of two separate sections of my stomach. I also remained concerned about asymmetry in my hips.
I submitted updated photos and was told I would receive a Skype consultation. I did not receive the promised call and had to follow up multiple times. In December, I was sent a video stating the doctor was happy with my result. I strongly disagreed with that assessment.
When I expressed that I was unhappy, I felt my concerns were dismissed rather than properly addressed.
I understood going into surgery that I was not having a tummy tuck and that I would still have a lower abdominal fold. However, I expected smoother contouring and improvement in symmetry. Instead, I am left with a visible ridge across my abdomen that was never there before and contour irregularities that make me more self-conscious than I was prior to surgery.
This was not a small decision financially or emotionally. While my coordinator was kind, I personally experienced limited direct communication from the surgeon after surgery and felt unsupported when raising concerns.
I am sharing my experience so that others understand that what you see online may not reflect every patient’s journey. It is important to ask detailed questions about risks, contour irregularities, aftercare responsiveness, and surgeon availability before proceeding.
