Dr. Dowbak is great but disappointed with the staff at New Life
I’m 6 days post op and only had a follow up 2 days after my surgery with a nurse who barely spoke English. If I was going to be treated like this I could have went to Columbia to see Dr. Plazas! Anyway I’m happy with my results just very disappointed with the staff. They will tell you to come after a certain time and have oh waiting for hours. No one wants to be sitting in a clinic ( or standing rather ) for hours while in pain and uncomfortable to do a follow up with your Dr. I’m also a bit concerned with the fact that when I got to the clinic at 7a 3 other ppl were signed in to have work done with my Dr. and me and 1 girl were called back together and when I woke up she was also waking up next to me and we were both being wheeled out one after another like our surgeries had been performed at the same damn time. I didn’t stay at a recovery house bc my family traveled with me and the recovery house New Life recommended had ended up being closed down for some reason. (Arnita’s Recovery House) I also found out that a young woman died there abt a month ago (Dr. Llorente patient) my husband told me abt it after the nurse wheeled me down to the car. He said he was getting worried bc I was back there so long and kept asking what was going on and if I was ok. Now he was exaggerating a bit bc I had only been bk there abt 2hrs but that can seem like a long time especially if while waiting you found out someone just died a month ago while undergoing the same procedure. You guys can and should google the information if you want to know more about the details. The surgery itself is not the scary part I think it’s the after care that’s most important bc you can make it out of surgery and have something internally goin on that you’re not even aware of which is why I’m so frustrated that I have not been able to see Dr. Dowbak in 6 days. I wa told she won’t be in tomorrow so that means I have to wait until Monday. Tuesday I fly out so they will have to make room on Monday. Oh yeah I forgot to mention....after waking p and leaving out they leave you with no verbal instructions just papers in your bag. They did not tell me I needed to come in the following day for Massages. When I got there Monday they told me i needed to start my massages on Sunday and told me they had no open availability on Monday for me to get a massage but it took me two hours to find that out bc the receptionist did not speak English and I got frustrated and contacted my coordinator Elena who and assisted me as soon as she could. She was a life saver! Any questions I will do my best to answer. I will upload pics soon.
Provider Review
Dr Dowbak was very sweet I just wish he wold have been there when I woke up. I was cold and could not stop shaking, I didn’t know what was going on with my body, and my nurse did NOT speak English. I understand that he’s busy but I would rather him do 2-3 operations per day, charge more and have time for his patients post op like I’m sure they do in places like Beverly Hills. Or at least have a team that is attentive and speaks both English and Spanish.
