Anita's Recovery House/ New Life Review
Tania is really nice, speaks English too. The 2 other ladies I saw there only know Spanish but luckily I knew a little bit just enough to get me by. They also have a translator app on their phone to talk to you. My honest opinion, I didn't think I needed the recovery house but I'm glad I went for my first day. All women are different when they come out of surgery, I saw one girl walking around the next day like nothing, it's almost like she didn't even get surgery, but when I first came out of surgery I threw up twice before I even went to the recovery house, not a lot, and most people throw up after surgery from the anesthesia. So I got to the recovery house and the overnight nurse brought me some homemade soup. Later on she tried getting me up to go to the restrooom but I got really lightheaded and almost passed out so I laid back down, threw up some more and she brought me cold water and Gatorade and these really good cookie cracker things and was wiping my body with cold alcohol, it felt so amazing. So since I couldn't get up she made me get in a dog position and open my knees and legs so I can pee in the bucket (which you are more than likely to pee on yourself so don't get embarrassed because it's totally normal lol). After 16 hours post op I was able to lift myself off the bed and pee in the bathroom with my funnel by myself. Also, it is sooooo hard to lift your body up after surgery, you re so weak, I tried pushing off with my elbows but you literally have to put both of your palms on the bed and just do a little 1-2-3 and push your whole body up into a dog position and slowly slide your legs off the bed. I was scared about not getting enough circulation to my fat cells so whenever I was able to go pee by myself I would always walk around the recovery house in the middle of the night or day for 15 minutes, the other girls staying there were so nice, I was sad to leave.
Tania was also super cool because for my 1 day post op she took me to my appointment with Dowbak and some young girl at New Life took me in a room and told me to take my faja off to get ready to see Dr. Dowbak, I was freaking out because I told her I wasn't even a full 24 hours post-op and I was told not to take it off till the next day.. but she insisted and started taking my faja off and I almost passed out on the little bed in there and I had to lay down, she was wiping me with cold alcohol pads and she put so much alcohol on there that when she put it by nose I thought I was going to die and she was holding it by my nose for too long, she tried getting me up at least 4 times but I kept getting dizzy so then I finally get up and as she's walking me to the back I'm getting ready to pass out in the middle of walking over there and a stranger in the waiting room jumped up and helped her carry me (bless his soul), then they hooked me up to 3 liters of IVs in a small room. After 1 liter was already in me there was like 5 people in this tiny room with me talking about how I need to get moved to the surgery room, I felt better and totally capable of walking around the corner by myself but some lady there kept telling me to sit down in the wheelchair but I told her I wasn't going to sit because I felt fine and I didn't want to ruin my results and then she was arguing in Spanish with one of the guys in the room telling him that I need to sit so I was like "okay lady, fine, I'll sit in the wheelchair" and while she was pushing me around the corner she was pushing me really fast and went through this door and full on slammed me and the wheelchair into the corner of the door because she wasn't even looking. I was so pissed and it hurt so bad,she didn't even say anything, and I felt so sick after that I didnt even want to argue. Anyways, Tania from the recovery house found out that the girl took my faja off and she was so pissed that she went back into the surgery center and was yelling at her and basically having my back, she totally cares about the girls who come to that recovery house. I just hate how at some surgery centers they treat you like an animal at a slaughter house. Dr.Dowbak was great though it's just 85 percent of the staff that works there, they're all b*tches who seem like they're so used to their job they just want to hurry up and get patients out of there and they have no emotions towards the girls. Like I know how cold it was to get out of surgery but luckily for me they put a heater under my blanket so I was warm, but when I went in the second day I saw all the girls in bed after they just got out of surgery and they looked so cold and their feet were hanging out under the blanket, I literally wanted to go over there and cover them up really quick because none of the people in the room at the time seemed to care if they were cold or not. Yipsy was my coordinator and OMG she is the best. She cares so much about the girls she has, I literally texted her any questions I had and she responded to every single one, she never ignores you and loves every one of her patients going with Dr. Dowbak. So sweet, she's amazing
