Detailed Review: BBL + Lipo @ Cosmos Clinic in Double Bay
I had a BBL + tumescent liposuction on my abdomen, flanks and thighs, and then fat transfer to my buttocks. Overall, I am really really happy with the outcome. Here is my story: I was looking for a clinic that could give me nice, full, round buttocks. I researched everywhere across the world, but when I saw Cosmos Clinic results, I knew this is the kind of result I wanted. So I flew to Australia and had my consultation. Dr. Fascetti and Dr. Ajaka where the doctors preforming my procedure. Throughout the whole process, from the day of my first consultation, to the surgery and follow-up, the doctors were present and attentive throughout. I had my initial consultation with Dr. Fascetti who explained everything I needed to know. All my questions were answered, and everything down to the receptionists and all the accompanying staff were extremely nice, friendly and helpful. BBL is considered a risky surgery so I wanted to go to a clinic where I felt safe. I asked all the hard "what if" questions and the doctors had no problems answering them. Dr. Ajaka even gave me his personal phone number to text if anything arises. The environment felt safe and professional so once I felt ready, I went ahead with booking the surgery. On the day of the surgery, they were running a bit late. Then, Dr. Ajaka came to personally apologize and he went over what kind of results I wanted just before surgery, which made me feel great and like he was really interested in giving me the shape I wanted. I even showed him some inspiration pictures, and to my untrained eye, I didn't even know I needed slight liposuction on my outer thighs to achieve that shape. It is a very small area, but it makes a huge difference in forming the silhouette. Dr. Ajaka apologized for me having to wait, and offered to do that little area for free. I was unsure as it was a last minute decision, but I decided to trust him and boy I'm glad I did - it turned out looking amazing. More on that later. I then went in for surgery and was nervous about the twilight anaesthetic, because I thought I might be awake. However, it was just like regular general anaesthetic that I had in my prior surgeries - I immediately fell asleep and woke up after surgery. I did not feel any pain whatsoever, and just waited to get discharged. Then I believe a nurse walked me to the pharmacy and helped me pick up my prescription. After that, I was given all the instructions on a pamphlet which was really helpful as I could always refer back to it, and I was given the go-ahead to go home. I was actually feeling so normal that I decided to take the public transit home, from Double Bay to Darling Harbour. Looking back, that was a bit of a ridiculous decision but I felt completely fine so I figured why not. When I got home, I had groceries stacked up for 2 weeks so I wouldn't have to carry anything heavy. I unfortunately had no one to help with my recovery, and the doctors insisted that I hire a nurse or at least have a friend check up on me, but unfortunately I was in the country all by myself so I had to make it work on my own. Looking back, recovery would probably be much easier with someone helping me, but I since I was super determined to do this surgery, I somehow managed by myself. I was given different kinds of medications, however I believe I never used the one for nausea - I never felt sick or like throwing up. For pain, I believe I took the medication preventatively but there was no real pain I was going through, my body was just sore and felt exhausted because it was a big procedure, but I was never in any particular pain. My abdomen and flanks just felt somewhat tender and I had restricted movement because of the faja, but I never once developed any pain. I managed to change my wrappings and maintain my faja all by myself, I recommend getting several fajas and wraps so you can have the convenience of not having to wash and dry it repeatedly. The only time I remember any pain is when I went for the post-liposuction lymphatic drainage massages at the clinic. However, it is a good pain - I always made sure to ask the nurse to be extra tough and really do a deep massage because it minimizes the risk of fat fibrosis (when the fat hardens as a complication after surgery). Anyways, the massages were great and I could always ask anything at the reception, which was great since in that way I was able to do many check-ups during my healing period.
I actually developed a few complications which were all dealt with amazingly in my opinion. First of all, I had a cellulite dimple on one buttock, which I thought was asymmetrical. I messaged Dr. Ajaka and he assured me that this level of imperfection is normal and that it would even out with time, which it absolutely did, now it is barely noticeable. Then, since I was wearing the faja 24/7, it was pressing really hard against my leg near my groin area and I developed a really nasty rash. I panicked and texted Dr. Ajaka, he asked to send a picture. I did and he prescribed me a cream which made it go away in a week! He was always super attentive and replied to texts promptly, and I always felt taken care of.
Then, a few days into my recovery, I began feeling lightheaded and I knew this wasn't normal - never ignore what your body is telling you! So I texted Dr. Ajaka and he took my complaint seriously immediately - he said I should come down to clinic for a check-up. I got a cab and almost fainted in the back seat since I was really light headed. Once again, once I got there the staff at the clinic were wonderful, and Dr. Ajaka instructed the nurse to take my blood. They did that and figured out I was really dehydrated. They immediately put me on an IV drip to boost my electrolytes and I immediately felt back to my normal self. They did this free of charge and in my experience, this constitutes top notch post-operative care. After this I had no further complications and I recovered nicely.
Now, in terms of the aesthetics of the procedure, the shape of my bum is exactly how I wanted. In the United States, the BBLs are somewhat lackluster in my opinion, they don't really deliver the same WOW effect as for example the Cosmos Clinic results. So I truly believe that out of everywhere in the world, this was the best place to do it at. So to break everything down - I had liposuction on my lower tummy, which made it look really nice and flat. Worlds different from what it was before. Then I had lipo on my flanks, which streamlined my waist beautifully and gave me a whole new silhouette. And then the buttock shape came out exactly how I wanted and I feel like the surgeons really have to have an artistic mastery of this procedure to be able to achieve such a nice result. One thing I will say is I was religious about not sitting on my bum for 6 whole weeks! The clinic says 2 weeks is enough but I was not gonna take any chances with my new bum, I loved the shape and wanted it to stay that way. It was a big commitment but I think that is definitely crucial if you want most of your transferred fat to survive. Now, 2 and a half years later, the shape is still the exact same. I dropped some weight so my butt is slightly smaller now, but the round bubbly shape has been well maintained and i'm still extremely happy with my results. It gave me a whole new confidence and it was definitely the right choice for me.
Some things to keep in mind is also that you should be realistic about your results because small things that you don't expect can happen and can be unpredictable, so it's important to remember that perfection is impossible. For example I got a little TINY bit of asymmetry with my flanks (one side retained a bit more fat), and a tiny area where my thigh was liposuctioned developed a little tiny shadow/crease on one of my legs. However, these are minute details that only I notice, and I've never had anyone point it out or comment on it. The only reason why I'm mentioning this is to give a realistic insight into what you can expect. I am 10/10 extremely happy with my results and would do it again in a heartbeat. The before and after difference is crazy, it's like night and day, and exactly what I wanted. So just make sure you know what you want, and if you're looking for that amazing bubbly lifted full buttock look, this place is definitely among the best in the world to do this procedure. The doctor's eye for proportions is in my opinion unmatched. Thank you once again Dr. Ajaka & Dr. Fascetti and all the Cosmos staff and wonderful nurses for this life-changing experience! :)
