They Cancelled my Surgery 10 Days Before the Scheduled Date.

Where can I begin? I was extremely excited and sure that Dr. Mendieta was the right doctor for me based on the pictures on his Instagram and peoples' results that I knew that went to him. Based on that, I booked an online consultation with him and put my deposit for surgery 3 weeks from then.

As the date kept getting closer, I hadn't heard much from my coordinator who had last promised me she was going to send me my [100 page] pre op packet, to be signed and read before my Pre-OP appointment. I received my pre op pack at 7 pm the day before my pre-op. I finally went to pre-op (12 days before scheduled date) where I waited for 2 hours for the doctor to see me. When he came in, I spoke to the doctor for about 5 minutes. I felt very rushed. It's a good thing I had a note on my phone with some questions I had, so I could throw them at him in my short time he was with me. He answered all of those questions but didn't really elaborate in a way that I could form more questions and feel secure. He seemed kind of annoyed when I asked him to show me the program that predicts how you will look after surgery. Then my coordinator called me and asked how things went, (I told her "..it was very short", discussed the price (13k) and I went ahead and paid the full amount. In the meantime, I watched a bunch of testimonials and You-Tube videos with other girls who did bbls, some with him and some with other surgeons.Through these videos, I began finding out a lot of information about preparation that no one from Mendieta's team had mentioned. Certain things like I'm supposed to be taking iron, I'm not supposed to be taking birth control, I am not supposed to be drinking tea, etc. All of these things were NEVER mentioned to me, even though I was only 11 days away from surgery. I began to panick, wondering if any of these small things could have created complications while in surgery. When I asked my coordinator about all these things, she confirmed that they were true. I asked her to have the office manager call me. When I spoke to the office manager about feeling unprepared and uneasy due to the lack of preparation and information given, he said he didn't want me going into surgery feeling uneasy and he thought it was best to cancel my surgery. I expressed that I didn't want to cancel my surgery, but rather would have someone, anyone, call me and confirm that I was 100 percent prepared and go over every thing I'm supposed to be doing/have done before surgery. However, they didn't give me an option to proceed, and cancelled my surgery 10 days before the scheduled date. I am very disappointed in the lack of customer service for a surgeon with amazing results and an amazing reputation. I just wanted to share my experience, and let people know what they are getting into so they don't feel attacked, the way I did.

Wow! So sorry you went through that bad experience but it was best they canceled because they might have botched you. When doctors are that busy is best to stay away, it's not the same care nor attention since they have to see so many people at the same time. I hope you find an amazing doctor that can dedicate to you the time needed cause $13,000 IS A LOT OF MONEY!

Yes I agree! I was disappointed that it was cancelled but everything happens for a reason and I can’t imagine being botched and then having no way of getting in contact with the doctor, that would be traumatizing. I rescheduled with Dr. Kevin Mosca and so far am having a TOTALLY different (better) experience :)

That's awesome news!!! I'm very happy for you and I'm hoping and praying you finally get the results you've always wanted! I had a lipo360 and BBL with Dr. Finny George (NY) 3 days ago and I couldn't have chosen a better doctor. I get called or emailed every day just to make sure I'm ok and I really appreciate that. Can't wait to see your results, keep us updated!!

Omg that's awful. He customer service is non existent. He did tell me to take iron and vitamin c (it was on a sheet they emailed me, the sheet about blood work needing done.) did they offer to reschedule you?

I had my pre op appt 12 days, not even 14 whole days before my surgery so even so, I didnt have a full two weeks to take those pills. No, they didn’t offer to reschedule me, even after i told them I didn’t want to cancel. They cancelled indefinitely, after I paid in full and had collected all my post op materials.
