How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
- Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

A Valuable Lesson the Hard Way...
The biggest lesson I learned in all of this pain is: DO YOUR OWN VETTING OF YOUR SURGEON! NO MATTER WHAT! I received a tip from a celebrity friend who told me Dr. Shokrian is experienced with gender-affirming procedures (but my celebrity friend had never actually worked with Dr. Shokrian or had any work completed by him, either before I had my procedure with Dr. Shokrian, or after.) She was just familiar with him through the LGBTQIA+ community forums and via social media. Ultimately, I chose to work with Dr. Shokrian in the first place because I figured her suggestion was a Gold Stamp of approval given her celebrity status. But I have since learned my lesson the hard way, ALWAYS DO YOUR OWN VETTING no matter what someone else tells you. If I hadn't been influenced already by my celebrity friend and gone through all the vetting I have for other procedures, it's very unlikely I would have chosen to work with Dr. Shokrian to begin with.
beware of shady ethics with this surgeon, board eligible is not a real credential
OVERALL SCORE/GRADE F
I will make this review as objective as I can. I'm going to score the areas I would for any plastic surgeon's business on the factors of: Staff Friendliness/Helpfulness, Hygiene of Office/Surgery Center, Quality of Work, Overall Satisfaction of Results, and Bedside Manner/Expertise Conveyed. While these factors might not be all the evaluative criteria to effectively and objectively measure a surgeon's skill and practice, I think these are enough to give folks a realistic picture of what Dr. Shokrian and Millennial Plastic Surgery are all about. And what you can expect if you pursue plastic surgery with either him or MPS.
Overall Comments:
As the title states, be aware of Board Eligible title. This qualification means relatively nothing and would be the same as a lawyer practicing law who never sat for the BAR and/or never passed it but is claiming they are bar-eligible so qualified to represent you legally. Every lawyer who graduates with a JD is eligible to sit for the BAR and become a practicing attorney. That does not make them a qualified attorney. And, while there are a few basic qualifications to be board eligible, such as undergoing a required number of surgeries without any deaths, that's is a minimum of what I would hope to be a standard regulation/expectation to practice any kind of medicine, period, much less plastics. Ultimately, what I'm saying here, Dr. Shokrian is NOT board certified and from what I know about his practice, he likely never will be. Ethical standards must also be achieved before being designated the board-certified credential that I believe to be in question for Dr. Shokrian.
That said, background information. I was seeking a BBL, breast augmentation and LIPO 360 from Dr. Shokrian in September of 2022. In the end, I also got a lip filler procedure, which was completely botched (I looked like I had a bad allergic reaction which remained well over 8 weeks after the procedure was completed. ie. more than enough time to heal. I've had other lip fillers before that looked beautiful, so I know what it's supposed to look like when in the hands of a skilled practitioner. My lips were hard, lumpy, and unsightly to look at. It cost me over 2K to have them back to normal or at least presentable enough that I didn't look like a fool on camera. I'm in B2B sales... After approaching him with the botched lip procedure, he refused to correct it and told me I looked great despite even his own staff asking me what happened and why I looked the way I did... For the other services I received, I paid premium prices (well over $23K) as he was recommended to me by a well-known celebrity, which is part of Dr. Shokrian's gimmick. He works with a few influencers to tout his work and is VERY active on social media, which keeps his business afloat. Otherwise, I have no doubt he would be shut down in a matter of months. For additional details on the remaining work Dr. Shokrian completed, please read below.
Overall Satisfaction - F
Dr. Shokrian, was terrible to work with from the beginning to the end. I didn't know all the right questions to ask but I made it clear what results I was looking to achieve. Dr. Shokrian took advantage of my situation & my money and completed very shoddy work overall.
Quality of Work - F
All of the procedures Dr. Shokrian performed on me now require a complete overhaul from a skilled, board-certified plastic surgeon. My BBL, less than 1.5 years later, completely disappeared. My breast augmentation left me with large, unsightly scars on both of my breasts that require scar revisions. In total, everywhere Dr. Shokrian touched me, he scarred me badly. I was left with 8 hypertrophic scars on my body because he overtightened my breast sutures and left the areas where he made incisions for LIPO and fat injections, unopened or never closed properly. As a result, I have 2 hideous scars above my buttocks and around my breasts. Lastly, my breast implants less than 1.5 years later, need to be completely redone. Dr. Shokrian used the wrong size implant for my chest, and they separated out, leaving me with a capsule. I also didn't leave with a surgical bra with the right mesh so I could keep my breasts in place properly and why they separated out, ultimately. My lips had to be completely dissolved, and it they cost me a small fortune to redo. Essentially, ALL THE WORK Dr. Shokrian completed must be performed again by an actual skilled surgeon. A complete waste of time and money. ~$30K Total Costs (Surgery/procedure costs + Hotels + After Care e.g. Lymphatic Massages and 9 months total recovery time.
Hygiene of Office/Surgery Center - D
It's New York City, it's tight so I get it. His surgery center is in his office in the back, and I'm told certified, though I never asked to see the surgery center credentials. Ultimately, I think the surgery center itself was fine and the office was clean, and professional looking. However, the quality of his medical staff I would question. I've been put under General Aesthesia 5 times in my life now, mostly for corrective surgery on my foot and hand (I was in a bad car accident). The other time was at Dr. Shokrian's office, my first plastic surgery experience. I never had a bad reaction to GA prior to my surgery with Dr. Shokrian. The anesthesiologist, I believe, was a nurse, and I would question her qualifications. Ultimately, I was very sick for several days after waking up. It took hours longer than usual for me to wake up, and I felt like death afterwards. I've had other elaborate procedures done and never suffered like I did waking up from his surgery center.
Bedside Manner/Expertise Conveyed - F
Dr.Shokrian was decently nice to speak with but in no way answered the questions I was asking him in the consult. I flew all the way in from out of town to meet with him. He was rushed to get through the consult and very glassy-eyed, pupils dilated (maybe from drinking the night before...?). On the day of surgery, he was again pleasant but was quick to mark me up and get me on the surgery table. In terms of expertise conveyed. I would say he did little to nothing to inform me, in advance, of what results I could expect or what challenges might come about with my body morphology and the results I was looking to achieve. Ultimately, he spent no time truly advising me on my desired results but shook his head, took my money, and botched me subsequently.
Staff Friendliness/Helpfulness - A
Saving the best for last, the office staff at MPS are wonderful to work with. Very helpful and definitely helped me feel comfortable. Unfortunately, people don't seek out plastic surgery for the friendliness of the office staff, that should be a given, frankly. But they deserve recognition for being top-notch given their employer receives a lot of complaints that I'm aware of!
Do yourself a favor and find yourself a qualified surgeon. Run, don't walk, away from Dr. Shokrian's practice. I hope this long review will help you as much as it helped me heal from the pain Dr. Shokrian has caused me personally.
