Botched bbl by Miami surgeon, & now searching for a revision surgeon in the Midwest

I really don't want to give a bad review. However, I will share my experience in hopes it’ll change the way my surgeon does business or save the next patient from the emotional roller coaster I’ve been on.

I went on this journey with realistic expectations, understanding human anatomy, my shape VS the other women next to me who's also getting a bbl, and understanding the importance of following my aftercare plan which included: aftercare products, supplements, services and suggested diet, etc. IN WHICH I INVESTED IN ALL OF IT plus more. Saying I was a bbl post-op Nazi is an understatement.

A GIFT TO MYSELF FOR MY BIRTHDAY, I traveled from the Midwest to the Plastic surgery capital of the US, for what I thought would be a great experience and no way I could go wrong going with someone who does this day in and day out. I'm disappointed, having a lot of regrets investing money and my trust in Dr. Dress at Avana only to turn out like this.

THE EXPERIENCE:
I'm speechless and just want to cry. At this point, I will say, I do not recommend Dr.Dress at Avana Plastic Surgery for a bbl. Leading up to the surgery day was ok. Nothing that raised a red flag until I felt the nurse nudging me to wake up, telling me it’s time to go. She continued to help me get off the bed into a wheel chair and brought me down to wait for my fiancé. All I can remember is trying to stand up, and feeling warm liquid run down my legs and I blacked out. I’m not sure how long I was out for(fiancé said it was a good minute or so) but I woke up on the ground of the parking lot to the nurse slapping my face and my fiancé freaking out. I was still out in the vehicle to be sent back to my hotel. I was in excruciating pain and no post care service. Even I got back to my home city, I went straight to my dr’s office for help and even she had a hard time getting through to the surgeon to get another prescription I guess my dr can’t give me one, only my surgeon. I left empty handed and in pain.

THE RESULTS AND RECOVERY:
It was almost impossible to get any help or any sort and answers after the surgery. I was worried about the SQUARED shape I woke up to from day 1 of post op. The nurses all just kept telling me to trust the process and let it heal before we revisit the concerns. 1mo & 2 mo into recovery, I called to update them and voiced my concerns because my butt wasn't getting rounder even with bbl sculpt massages as they suggested. They(Dr. Dress nurses) continued to tell me to wait until 6 months before making any judgment and that the surgeon will not review anything before then.

Month 3: to add to my squared buttocks concerns, the swelling finally really started to go down, I noticed my waistline still isn't snatched, BUT NOW I HAVE A STRANGE HORIZONTAL FOLD across my belly button with a shelf superior to my navel, AND how lumpy, loose and uneven my abdomen had become. At this point, I'm in complete freak out mode. I called again and this time wanted to speak to dr. Dress. Of course he didn't call back, his nurse did and again, told me I still too early in my recovery to discuss anything and the surgeon won't review anything until at least 6 months.

At 6 months I called and wrote to Avana about my results and requested a revision. I've included photos from 1 day post-op through different stages of recovery and today. After several calls and emails, the revision department FINALLY called me back and said Dr. Dress currently isn't reviewing/ doing any revision case unless it's a scarring problem. I firmly but nicely argued that this was a concern from day 1 and to see my records how many times or called about it. And even referring to the post op surgery photos THEY TOOK while I was on the operating table, you can clearly see my butt was SQUARED Shaped from the beginning. (Maybe there’s a strategy behind it? I don’t know) but the answer was still he won’t consider reviewing my request for a revision to address the problems.

Being that I am in the service provider industry, it’s vital to have upfront + post service communication/ care for your client. ESPECIALLY when someone is paying a premium for your service instead of going to basic Joe next door for few thousands less. I know what it looks like when when a client had "unrealistic expectation" or service provider over promised and failed to deliver vs a "service provider technical" error/ negligence or it was a client negligence. There is an expectation for the service provider to make it right when the fault fell on their end. After careful research and watching/ reading board certified surgeon’s blogs/ vlogs/ FAQs, I believe that i had a botched bbl.

As of today, I’ve decided to just move on to find a revision surgeon to fix me. I’m trying to get a hold of someone at Avana to forward me a copy of my medical records for my future revision surgeon and all the forms I spent 3 hours filling out at pre-op visit. Even that has been a headache. I’ll update everyone as the events unfolds

I would love a referral to a Midwest revision surgeon that specializes in BBL. Please send me suggestions. Thank you.
