Hello RS Fam!I am 4 hours post-op and wanted to share my journey with you all! I will be posting as often as I can.
My surgery was complete at 1230PM today, so I am home. I am in my stage one garment and there are absorbent pads tucked in— I am definitely leaking a lot. All part of the experience!
I prepped last night by changing my bedsheets to a cheap black pair, cutting up a shower curtain as a protective lining, purchasing and lining my bed with absorbent pads (called chucks in the medical field), and eating a carb-loaded meal since I couldn't eat before surgery. The car ride home was a little rough, but I practiced laying in the backseat so I was prepared.
Immediately when I got home, I ate a strawberry yogurt to get my blood sugar up. I was shaking a lot due to low blood sugar. I took the nausea medicine and then two tablets of pain meds. I feel very sore in the areas of lipo, scale of 1-10, about a 6. I'm flexing and moving my legs around a lot to stay active. I plan to get up very soon for a short walk to the kitchen. Will update and take you along with me during recovery!

Hey girl! Sorry for the late reply! I live in DTLA so it was about 20-25 min for me. Honestly with a pillow in the backseat, it was really comfy. I could have been in the car for 1+ hours and I would have been fine. :)

Did you wake up with any pain meds in your system? Or what did Dass do to make sure you weren't in agony when you woke up!

I still had anesthesia in my system so I was groggy but there was zero pain when I woke up. More discomfort from the garment than anything because I wasn't used to wearing it yet! Right when I got home I took two pain pills and did that every 6 hours for the first two days. It really helped!

Day 2 of Recovery

dassdoll2020
Day 1 evening was pretty rough. I had to get up 5-6 times throughout the night. Finding a comfortable position to sleep in with the bulky garment was a challenge. In the morning, I started getting really itchy, probably due to the dried fluids on my skin. I washed up as best I could, but I cannot wait for my first shower and to get the garment off me for a few minutes. I’ve had a decent appetite this entire time - taking nausea meds + food before the painkillers have allowed me to avoid nausea. I’m peeing using a funnel and that’s been a life saver. I noticed that my face was really swollen today as well. The garment was digging into my skin in certain places so I placed small hand towels between my skin and the garment edges for comfort. I know the first two days are the worst, so I’m grateful I should be getting over the hump.

Day 3 - First Shower

dassdoll2020
I took my first shower today. Removing the soaked absorbent pads was life. The shower itself was fine for me - I didn’t get light headed at all. I used antibacterial bar soap and showered in lukewarm water. Attached are photos of what I look like after my shower. Warning - getting into the compression garment is so much harder than getting out of it. I was really frustrated and it took us about 10 minutes to try to figure it out. Your body is really really swollen and tender so it won’t be easy. Foam padding needs to go back in place as well which doesn’t help when you’re trying to squeeze into your garment. I wore a small t-shirt as a base layer so the garment edges wouldn’t dig into my skin - highly recommend this. I’m honestly down to not shower for a few days because putting on the garment sucks. Attached is my before shot too. Loving my waist already!
