Patient Coordination:
First off Abi was handled all of my coordination. Prices, information, lodging, questions, etc.
She was so wonderful to work with and always found me an answer. After getting to the clinic I saw how busy she is! So please give her some grace in responding, she was always professional to make sure I got help. Lastly she is a great balance to Dr. Aslani, who is extremely busy. One on one time with him is limited. But Abi is such a sweatheart in filling the gaps where Dr. Aslani didn’t have time to explain everything. Another super star is Sara! She handled every aspect of my post-op coordination. The clinic is so busy with many changes but Sara was on top of every little change to make things run as smooth as possible. Both Abi & Sara took the time to help this patient understand every step of the process and ensure my care didn’t fall to the way side.
Surgery & Appointments:
Dr. Aslani and his surgery team are world class! They are professional but also very personable, everyone always greeted me with a smile and made me feel comfortable. Expect Dr. Aslani to be straight to business when he comes into the room. He is always on the go, but that doesn’t mean he won’t slow down to answer your questions. Just be prepared an what specific questions you have for him, but even though he is busy he is very kind. Wether he was cracking a joke or showing his excitement of your results it was truly a welcoming feel. Also what I REALLY loved about him is his passion. Obviously he is a world leader in these surgeries and travels to teach his technique. But even more than that, you can feel and see his excitement of his work in your post-op appointments. This passion alone made me feel like I chose the right doctor for my life changing surgery!
Recovery:
Highly recommend staying in the villa or apartments, especially if you have a supercharged BBL. The villa/apartments are with a separate entity but your patient coordinator can help you get in touch with the right person for booking. I stayed at the villa and breakfast every morning was so nice. Roxy and Ann made great meals and kept the place spotless clean! For food, you can either prepare your own or order meals. Spain uses the Glovo app that delivers meals, groceries, etc. A huge plus to staying here is the access to the clinic nurses. I have to give a shoutout to Steffy and Estefania!! They are top-tier nurses and so much fun!! Always bringing in smiles and positive energy each morning. They will teach you everything you need to know for self-recovery for when you go home. Lastly there is transportation setup to get you to and from all of your appointments and the airport. I will say the transportation was very uncomfortable for the first few weeks after surgery. Also massages were there at the villa and were the days I looked forward to. Overall the villa was great! I stayed for 4 weeks and was getting anxious to get home. But everyone there was super sweet and it was so nice to connect with other girls there recovering.
Complications:
I was fortunate to have a fairly smooth recovery, though I did have an allergic rash break out all over my body. When it started to spread to my neck I got concerned. What is tough is it was the weekend and it isn’t easy to call a doctor in. There is an on-call doctor for emergencies who ended-up coming to the villa to give me medicine. My situation was becoming serious but not exactly an emergency. I had to be very forward telling the nurses that I needed the doctor. After the medicine I healed up very well. So I’d recommend speaking up firmly if you have a medical need.
I experienced alot of swelling in my legs after travelling home. My travel took 3 flights over 26 hours. I stood for most of that time and used the BBL pillow when sitting. It took almost a week to get my legs to get back to a comfortable amount of swelling. Swelling remained in my ankle and feet through 7-8 weeks post-op.
I was left with a large scar on my left side of my torso from the lipo/plasma treatment. The care to make it better has been good but I will need to use scar gel for a while to reduce it. My skin is still recovering in the heavily fat grafted areas like my hips. But with home care that should get better in time.
Pain:
Pain was manageable through medication provided by the clinic (no additional cost). Waking up from surgery wasn’t bad at all. But the next day and couple days after was painful. Not horrible pain but I would be eager to take my next pain medicine. Once the drains were removed (one week) pain seemed to get better on the daily. I would say most of my pain came from the implants causing very tight muscles, lipo areas, and corset feeling tight. At 6 weeks, I wasn’t in pain anymore just felt restricted in movement. At 12 weeks mostly have full movement back with hardly any pain (sometime some discomfort). Ribs were never painful just the corset 24/7 for 3 months was tough.
To the Dolls:
Dr. Aslani will probably mention not being on HRT multiple times. He understands the conflicting medical articles regarding injections and patches, but he wants to make sure there is 0 chance of increased risk of a blood clot. The positive about him, he really cares about your recovery not just the surgery. It is a long time off hormones though.
In Spain, I never experienced any issues with being transgender. Everyone at the clinic/villa was professional (nurses prepping me, cleaning me, etc) and on top of that everyone was extremely supportive.
