This time around, I have these little fine lines around my scar that look like wrinkles...which haven't yet fully disappeared (but seem to be slowly going away). Guess it is just the healing process, but not something I had in the first two lip lifts.
Omg. That’s exactly what I do with my ruler. Lol. It’s over a year and I still do the weekly measurements!
haha! I used to measure like every day, but I think (or hope anyway) most of the dropping has stopped at this point, so I havent been measuring as much these days!
My ps told me that just chewing and talking pull the lip down. Now that is 2 things I WILL NOT stop avoiding. Lol.
Do you think you’ll have a fourth procedure or are you happy now?? And if you do have another procedure, will you choose another doctor?
Do you think a ps would even want to do a Lip Lift for the 4th time? I’d imagine that it’s damaging to the tissue and muscles. But, I’m not a ps. lol. I think she looks fabulous now!!! Flawless!!!
I think she looks good but she said her scar is stretched out so I’m wondering if she will at least have scar revision surgery? And I think you can have unlimited lip lifts as long as you give the tissues time to heal. I know a girl who has had 4 boob jobs and plans on having another one next year so I think a lip lift should be a bit more straight forward haha..
My gosh, 4 boobie jobs! Just the thought of going through the surgery that many times makes me anxious! Lol. And, the cost of all these surgeries....it’s not loose change. I’d love to have my lip lift redone, but my ps is adamant about doing it again. Oh well, it is what it is!! We woman are hard to please! Lol.
haha..thanks guys! I am not sure yet if I will do it again...It has dropped a lot more than I was anticipating and I would ideally like it to be a few millimeters shorter and have a bit more tooth show. And also get rid of this scar, since it hasn't healed as nicely this time around...at least not yet. But I am also worried about it being too short. Although I think Dr. Mateus is an excellent surgeon, I would feel bad asking him to do it again haha (not even sure he would do it a third time!) and I am no longer in Brasil anyway...I am scheduled to see Dr. Joan San Miguel in Barcelona (another lip lift doctor!) and get his opinion on things. Fortunately, it is supposedly much cheaper there than it is in the US! But I agree...can't afford to keep doing this procedure! haha. Anyway, will keep you posted!
I knew you’d find us entertaining!! Lol. We got your back, girlfriend!! We support each other here on RS! Good luck with your newest lip lift doc. Give us a heads up on the latest. Keep lipped on!!! Lol.
Thanks girl !! Will do !
Wow you will see another surgeon... keep us posted. I’d love to know what Dr San Miguel will recommend you. How did you discover him? Is he known for lip lifts?
ill let you know! I found him because he is one of the few doctors in spain that does lip lifts...just Google really...he is known for them, yes! not sure how many he has done before but he seems to be good! Will see what he recommends :)
You need to compare your results with how your lip looked before your surgeries. It looks so much better, natural and youthful. If you lift the upper lip a lot more, it will look "done". You got a really nice result!!
Thank you! And that is my struggle here because I don't want it to look like I am a totally different person or very obviously had something done...I wish it were just a few millimeters shorter. But you are right! I know it is far better than it was when I started 3 lip lifts ago and overall I feel like my face is much more balanced. Thank you for saying that!

Lip drop

Once again (post third lip), my lip has dropped a LOT. 5mm to be exact. I measured 9mm just out of surgery and now am at 1.4cm. It seems like most people drop by 2mm or 3mm at most, so I guess my skin is just very elastic/prone to dropping since each time, this seems to happen. While my philtrum is still significantly shorter than it was to begin with, I am disappointed that my lip seems to drop so much each time.

I am so sorry to hear that :( but I do see a significant improvement!!
thank you!
I still think it looks great! Your philtrum is noticeably shorter! It has softened your face!
thank you! :)
It seems like if you’re measuring it just out of surgery there is still a lot of swelling distorting the measurement. Anyway, my personal feeling is that people on this site get too hung up on measurement. What counts is how it looks. Your mouth looks very beautiful! It’s a natural, subtle look that no one would think was “done” with surgery.
Gotta agree with you !! :-)
thank you! I appreciate that...and I too have noticed that people (including myself haha) get hung up on the measurements. It's more that sometimes I still just feel like my philtrum still looks long and longer than I had wanted it to be and that is the issue at the end of the day...my scar has elongated a lot this time for whatever reason (even notice a big difference in photos from how it was the last time) so I think that that definitely doesn't help..but anyway, thanks for the kind words!
looks just right to me and I agree that you re brave having this done 3 times. I’m thinking of having my 2nd lip lift for the same reasons so your review has really helped. I too have elastic skin - I had a mastopexy after Brest cancer treatment left my boobs decidedly asymmetric, but the day after my good boob was back to its old droopy self!! So I need to take his into account when choosing my surgeon next time. thanks so much for sharing
yeah it seems to depend on the person. my friend who had the lip lift done by the same surgeon (only once) seems to have only dropped 2mm and has a philtrum shorter than me (after 3) ! And immediately post surgery, I was much shorter than she ever was. I thought there was no way the doctor could have removed any more skin...and he probably couldnt have. I think that my scar just stretched out a ton, adding several millimeters of skin :/ So good to take that into account moving forward anyway! Good luck!

5 weeks post 3rd lip lift

I have been asked for photos, so here they are! 5 weeks post op. As usual, once the stitches came out, I felt like my philtrum looked way longer than when it was smaller and with stitches. The stitches seem to hide some of the philtrum, but if measuring from my scar to my cupid's bow, the measurement is about the same as it was right after surgery. So I don't know if there was any "drop" per se, but philtrum definitely does look longer than it did right after surgery, which I had expected. Overall still very pleased with results. I think it could be a bit shorter (the way my nose is seems to make philtrum look longer), but still far better than it was before.

Third time’s the charm! You look great! Congrats - it was worth the redo’s.
Thank you!
BTW, how did you plan your trip to Brazil? Like where to stay, etc. it sounds intimidating to go overseas and I admire your courage and determination to get the results you wanted, no matter how many times or how far you had to go. Where do you live?
Thanks! I was actually living in Brazil, so it worked out...I'm a bit of a nomad haha. I didn't travel there just for the surgery- just happened to find a great surgeon who was in the city where I was living!
Oh wow! I’m from Brazil and I know the beauty industry is Huge there, lol. Btw Florianopolis is where my sister lives ❤️
You look GREAT!
Own muito obrigada !
Ohhhhhh....makes sense.
You look really really good. I think you have a bit of body dysmorphia to think your philtrum could be shorter!! It’s literally perfect. If it were any shorter, it would make your chin look too long. Your third time was definitely the charm. You have adorable dolly lips now. Yet they’re still sultry looking at the same time. The scar also looks great.
Thank you! Appreciate that and helps to hear. :)
Have you noticed any nose changes? I had ONE lip lift and my nose is ever so slightly bigger. Nostrils a little spaced out and the center of my nose seems a little lower... wouldn't be a big deal if I got lip results and didn't have a button nose. Ack:(
Hmm, honestly dont think my nose has permanently changed. I noticed it right after lip lift (a bit swollen and everything), but things have since settled down. Has it been a while since your lip lift and nose never went back to normal?
Mine was three months ago and my changes aren't super drastic, but enough to ruin the details I've what I liked about my nose. I dont really blame the procedure, just my particular choice in surgeon. ;[
It’s the third time charm. Looks perfect to me. Enjoy your new refreshing look.
Thank you!
