Braces for my protruding mouth

Let me start with a back story:
So I've been considering braces for a really long time now, since high school. I'm now 25, and now that I'm married with kids, I decided to go for it with my husband's support.
I felt a little hesitant when my orthodontist recommended extractions to achieve my desire look. As he mentioned, because my teeth, mouth isn't aligned with my chin, it causes me to have chin dimples when relaxed. I've always hated my mounted looking mouth, and how it opens when relaxed. I hope I'm making a good decision and not regret it when my braces journey is done.
He recommended 4 teeth extractions to achieve my desire look. I just hope all goes well.

I hope you’re doing good & made the bet decision for you! I actually just got 4 teeth extracted this pt Thursday & am getting my braces next week! Like you, I have a protruding mouth (mine is worse than yours) & a dimply chin. There was no way to move my teeth without extractions. I’ve done. lot of research because I was hesitant, and extractions re typically recommended & needed with mouth protrusion & chin dimpling. I felt much better after I found that out.

Check out the "long face syndrome", and "skeletal class II"
Judging by your 1st photo, and description (open mouth when relaxed) it looks like your upper jaw is a bit too long. You might want to investigate this issue, but the solution for skeletal class II is a jaw surgery.

Although my teeth isn’t protruding anymore, it’s weirdly dented inwards. I’ve been wearing my retainers for about a year now, and feel the need to wear it all everyday. If I go a day without wearing my retainer, my teeth becomes sore (feels like it’s shifting).

Hello,
If you feel comfortable, can you post a picture of the results? Did you orthodontist say anything about the denting inwards? I have the same problem with my mouth constantly being open (class ii skeletal) and I am getting braces for this reason.

Please don’t do extractions it is not worth it! I regret it and am trying to reverse the effect it did on my health and facial aesthetics:(

Hello ! I'm so sorry to hear that, do you mind posting your after pictures please ? I have your exact same mouth and I too got 4 teeth extracted like 2 months ago. It's really hard to find people showing their results after removing their braces so it would be really helpful if you could.

I had mine extracted 2 months ago as well. I'm wondering how the results will be. Two orthodontists recommended it to improve my dentition, and one said I should not.
