Braces & Orthognathic Surgery
Hello all
I decided to join the group in hopes of feeling less alone in all this treatment.. I started braces in February of this year that would include jaw surgery (for overbite), I am now back and forth with surgeons about my surgery and don’t know what to think or feel.. Initially I was referred to Qaisi Mohammed from my orthodontist (Spector Hoawrd) at Cook county Hospital... after seeing him couple of times he clearly didn’t want to do surgery on me and asked me to get second opinion because every doctor he said has different techniques and his main experience is with cancer patients... Anyway I asked where to go, I have no idea of doctors and specialties, he said I can try UIC. I wrote then Dr Michael Han From UIC, he answered promptly and he seemed nice on our appointment... he said he would plan my case and write my orthodontist about it... now I am waiting for my next month appointment with the orthodontist to see what news I have. What is concerning though is that Dr Han wrote me an email saying my insurance is declining my surgery payment but I shouldn’t be worried there are other ways to do that without missing the surgery... now I wander if he meant we will still do the surgery and I will obviously get billed personally or he meant I would need to get a loan or something and then be able to do it, cause I have no money aside for any prepayment.... I am so stressed and confused I almost regret starting the whole treatment. I know I need it but I feel helpless. The orthodontist is bad at explaining me stuff and I am all stressed out Since we started cause I need to guess what we are doing so far... I can’t seem to get a surgeon for my surgery.. I don’t know what to think I am exhausted.. :-( I cannot understand why is so difficult for doctors to talk to their patients clearly...
The only good think so far is that my orthodontist was clear about his charges and he actually had me doing payments toward my treatment which I very much appreciate, he did not make me get a loan or anything and he didn’t require any huge down payment. For the facts he charged me 5.600$ And he wanted down payment 600$. Since then I have monthly payments of 200$.
Waiting for news...
