Feeling great! Looking great and back to work. I'm down nearly 40 lbs since surgery, and keep on losing! Back at work, not too tired after a long day.

He is amazing! Like many other docs I'd seen, did not know what Dercums Disease was. He took the time to find out more about it. Immediately after surgery validated every "unknown" I'd had about the disease that was taking my life. He "wrenched on my gut" with a vengeance, I believe, safely removing every possible toxic tissue, lipoma, and disease-infested fat cell he could via abdominoplasty and liposuction of abdomen and flanks. All that AND MADE ME LOOK BETTER THAN I HAVE IN OVER A DECADE! Staff was accommodating and knowledgeable. Had a great team in surgery with a good sense of humor, putting me at ease. I really felt like (and still do feel like) they were pulling for me and a personal victory over this disease that stole years from me and my family. Dr Hartley, though wanting me to be satisfied with the aesthetics, is genuinely more concerned with a pain free, improved quality of life. He and his team gave me much more than a flatter tummy, they gave four kids their mama back.

Learning a lot about myself through this journey. This week I have pushed through my fatigue in the afternoons and not taken naps like I felt I had to before. I have learned to listen to my body. Increased activity= inevitable swelling. I have learned my binder is my best friend for now. But mostly, I have learned that as much as the outside may have changed, it is still and always was, the inside that counts.
