In 1996, less than a year after the birth of my 4th child, and months before my impending divorce, (it was an eventful year! ) I had breast augmentation surgery with Saline Implants placed beneath my pectoral muscles. At the time my breasts greatly resembled acorn squash, and were closer to my waist than to my shoulders, so I also had a Mastopexy lift with a Wise Pattern, (anchor incision). Unfortunately, I do not have pictures from those early days, but I can say in all honesty that while my breasts never were quite right, they were a vast improvement over my post baby/breast feeding mammary's. The surgery really helped me get through some very tough years. I was fortunate that I had no complications or issues until I reached my mid 40's, and peri-menopause brought the 'gifts' of hormone changes, weight gain, and gi-normous boobs. I am currently spilling out of DDD bras, and have taken to wearing unflattering athletic support to avoid them altogether. In the last few months, after reading so many posts by other women on this site, I have finally worked up the courage to go back under the knife, and get my body back. My surgery is scheduled one week from today, (March 24) so I am now in count down mode and will begin sharing my experience in the hope that it will help others, as I have so greatly benefited from the sharing of other awesome women on this site.

The surgery went very well yesterday with no complications, (aside from a few minor travel snaffus resulting from the blizzard that hit us on Wednesday). I cannot say enough about how wonderful my doctor and the hospital staff were, a truly top notch group!
So far the pain is very minimal and I am cat napping alot, packed in ice and plan to do a whole lot of nothing today. Will post more updates next week after Dr. Kuisle removes my bandages.
Have a great weekend!

Just curious, did you choose to have another lift? Or did you just have removal. I am struggling with this decision.

I definitely had the lift. The recovery is longer and harder, but there was never a question that I would as they were already so saggy with the implant IN, can't even imagine how they'd have looked without the lift. Not good!

Congratulations sister! It is so good to be on the other side. Yep, catnapping is the best thing you can do right now, take it easy and enjoy your recovery :)

Lots of bruising, and still swollen but overall doing well. The doctor said not to be concerned about the eneven texture, (especially around the areola) as this will flatten out when stitches are removed on Friday.

Haha, I know so brutal looking! I cringe when I look at the pics from the early weeks. I looked like I jumped on a hand grenade! I'm so glad I didn't wait tho, I'd never have gone thru with it if I had. :-)
