Awful Experience

To preface this review, my name is Julia Yammine and I just want to say that I’ve already spent $1695 at this company for botox treatments, so I’ve been a loyal enough customer and I am extremely disappointed.

To start I’ll talk about my experience at the Hamilton location. The place itself is a dingy old place. It’s extremely hard to find in the back alley of a pharmacy on the upper floor. You won’t see any signage outside for some reason. You go in and there’s nobody at reception to greet you. The setup looks extremely sketchy. Plastic chairs and an old worn down desk. The clinic is shared with a chiropractor, they just rent a tiny little room in the office. It made me question the legitimacy of the treatments I’m getting, but nonetheless I’m a trusting person so I agreed.

I sat there on the chair for a good 15 minutes until the nurse came outside to greet me. She said they were running behind on appointments. The nurse herself in Hamilton is very nice lady. I have nothing against her whatsoever. I got the botox treatments in my masseter muscles (30 units on each side, more than they recommended which was 20) and 33 in my forehead and everything seemed okay. I paid. My appointment was on Thursday, October 1st.

It’s been two months and three days. My master muscle is supposed to last for 4-6 months. I just tested it now and I can already feel the muscle when I clench. When I got it done at Skin Vitality the muscle wouldn’t budge when I clenched even after 4 months. I got a botox eyebrow lift too and I can already move my forehead and brows again. The botox is already wearing off and it’s only been two months and three days. I can’t say I’m not disappointed.

But worse than this was the shady business practices of the company itself. They had cyber Monday treatments on sale, so I jumped on the offer. They were selling Juverderm half off. I bought two syringes because it seemed like a good deal and I was still willing to give them a shot. I called to ask them about the Juvederm over the phone and they didn’t know it’s effectiveness vs. Teosyal. The employee asked her coworker whom she said had Juvederm and she said they were great. She couldn’t answer my question about the lasting power in a medical manner, just based on the circumstantial evidence of the other employee who’s had Juvederm.

I have a consultation with a doctor for cheek implants, but he had told me that due to COVID they wouldn’t get to the actual surgery till almost a year later. Given the urgency of the Black Friday sales, I bought the Juvederm syringes. They came in a form of a gift card for some reason. I called my surgical doctor to confirm the surgery and he said that they can actually do it in February/March. So in that case I decided the Juvederm would be a bad idea because they’d need to put an implant underneath soon enough.

I called LaserBody MD to get a refund for the Juvederm, I had paid $850. I spoke with every employee at the company. They kept deferring me to other employees. Every time they needed a manager their managers would be “at a meeting”. I was never able to get to an actual manager as if they were escaping having to speak to me. Three times I called over two days and they were at various “meetings”. They said they can’t refund me because it was final sale apparently. I checked their website in its entirety and all their emails and NOWHERE did it mention that. They hook you in to buy their products and then they trap you without a terms of service agreement. If it’s final sale, the customer has the right to know.

When confronted with that fact, they said they can see if they can refund me the money, but it’s through their online portal so they made the excuse that they cannot reverse it online through their system. They don’t know how to operate their own online systems and use that as an excuse to not refund you. The employee said she’ll try then get back to me. They got back to me a few days later saying, yeah they can’t refund me, sorry it’s final sale.

Overall I am extremely disappointed in how I was treated at LaserBody MD. To treat a customer who has already spent so much money at your company the way you did is so upsetting. To hold a big chunk of their money ($850) hostage like you did is so disheartening, especially in the middle of a pandemic when people are trying to save a couple dollars with every sale that comes up. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this company to anybody after how they’ve treated me. I tried Skin Vitality and trust me the customer experience is 10x better and they respect their clients. And their botox lasts way longer to top it all off. I still am going to have to get the botox and use the money I paid for Juvederm for something else at some point, but I am frankly really upset at this experience, so keep it in mind in case you would like to get anything done at LaserBody MD.
