2025, 7 years later and still fixing his work

Just had a second revision. Didn't work. Paid $25k+ this time and it's still as crooked as they day I woke up from this Mexico City surgery nightmare.

Attaching the correspondence sheet I sent my photos and concerns. Expect zero accountability and multiple threats if you share your story.

Avoid this Dr Juan Bernardo Baltazar Rendon at TopPlasticSurgeonsMexico or it'll cost you.

Botched Liposuction & Rhinoplasty from Dr. Juan Bernardo Baltazar of Top Plastic Surgeons Mexico

- EXACTLY 2 MONTHS IN
The nose is crooked. I've seen 3 (American board certified) surgeons about it and they say the nose was set wrong after Dr. Juan Bernardo Baltazar unnecessarily broke it - unnecessary because I only needed tip work to begin with and made it clear to the doctor who disregarded my comments. There are still visible holes on my face where he left thick black thread in that at 3 weeks (after he allegedly removed all the stitching) I had to go in and dig out with teeezers. Makeup won't cover that OR the scars on the base of my columella, right above my lip, which was misaligned and sloppily reattached. I'm also breathing much much worse than before my rhino. So, here's the kicker after scoring that GREAT DEAL on a Mexican surgery - My nose is going to cost me $11,000 to fix. NOT WORTH THE "SAVINGS" YOURE HOPING FOR BY GOING TO MEXICO. That's on top on the $1,700 I had to spend on fillers to camouflage the incredible asymmetry. And no decent surgeon will touch it for another 8 months. Oh, and my stomach is disgusting and lumpy. I've spent 5+ hours a week on lymphatic massages, endermologie and ultrasonic cavitation to try to fix the lumpy mass that Dr. Juan Bernardo Baltazar from topplasticsurgeonsmexico left it in. That's more than $3,500 to date which was more than the discount surgery. And this lipo was just supposed to correct a small area of fat/fibrosis that my last lipo surgeon missed, so understand I'm very familiar with the lipo healing process and this is not right. Waking up 15 pound heavier AFTER lipo and not seeing any of that so-called water weight or swelling dissipate for 2 months is crazy. So now I'm not only lumpy but I'm 15 pounds heavier than I was literally the day before you surgery. Dr. Juan Bernardo Baltazar and the entire topplasticsurgeonsmexico team (which is most likely just his office disguised as a medical tourism site) stopped returning emails and phone calls the moment I left Mexico. They've only emailed since to threaten me to take a question I posted here on RealSelf down which asked other surgeons what could be done about my nose. And to let me know their "free revision" policy no longer applied. This sucks. Dr. Juan Bernardo Baltazar and topplasticsurgeonsmexico is the reason they warn us against having surgery overseas/especially in Mexico. -------1 DAY IN (I wrote this while still in Mexico but waited to post it until I healed a bit more)Dr. Juan Bernardo Baltazaar did my nose and lipo on my stomach. We're just one day out but my nose looks crooked and I specifically asked him not to touch my nostrils because I'm African-American and I know reconstructing that round ethnic quality of our nostrils is not something many surgeons can do. In spite of my request, I woke up and began bawling when I saw that my right nostril had been operated on and the entire right side of my nose is now the shape of a triangle while the left side looks like my natural black nose. I do have the stint on and a bunch of dressing inside my nostrils, so maybe it'll look better, but looking at all the other reviews of RealSelf, what you see the first day out is usually what it ends up looking like just super swollen. Hopefully that isn't the case with my nose. My lipo and it looks great so far. This is my second time at it and I know what to expect. So imagine my dismay at 18 hours post-op being told by Dr. Alejandra, the woman tasked with taking me to my hotel and caring for me - which I paid for in my surgery package - that I needed to call a cab or uber and go to my hotel because she didn't want to risk any drainage getting on her car interior, or she said I could pay another $250 to stay at the dirty clinic and wait for someone else to do it because she was 'doing me a favor'. I don't know what is going on but if the recover is just as important as the surgery, things appear to be going really, really wrong. Dr. Juan Bernardo Baltazaar - Top Plastic Surgeons MexicoThe doctor was pleasant but didn't lipo my arms, upper or lower back, which I paid for in advance. He also directly ignored my request not to touch the sides of my nostrils. I started with a great nose. I wanted the tip refined after heavy acne scarring left he tip more bulbous than I liked. I'm black and don't want to look like a Jackson, and I know that reconstructing the nostrils so that they maintain their ethnic characteristics, like round nostrils is damn near impossible. So I immediately stated bawling when I saw one of my nostrils had been moved and is now the shape of a triangle like the Jacksons. I won't be able to see the doctor until tomorrow. Maybe it'll turn out fine and he knew better than me, but I'm really upset and I'll keep you all updated. ---------2 days post opAfter waiting 4 more hours at the clinic for my caretaker Gabriel to pick me up, I finally arrived at my hotel and slept the rest of day 1. I was told I would see the doctor that performed my surgery at 2pm to discuss WTF happened with my nose. Guess who showed up-Dr. Alejandra, the extremely rude woman who refused to give me a ride back to my hotel a day prior. I open the door and ask where my surgeon is. Her immediate response, "i'm doing you a favor, if you don't want my help that you don't need it" and then she walked off. Seriously. No back and forth, I simply asked where the person that cut me open was for our follow up and her attitude/ego snapped back at me and immediately left. I called topplasticsurgeonsmexico immediately after she left understandably HEATED asking when I would see my actual doctor. Gabriel told me that I was being rude and should've started the phone call with a hello, how are you -___- after scolding me for being upset that they weren't allowing me to see my surgeon he said he'd get in touch with him and that I would finally get to see the surgeon at 2. It's 3:45 and no one is picking up the phone at topplasticsurgeonsmexico. I've called several times to the number that Gabriel just picked up at and he's sending me to voicemail. I'm super swollen, and super frustrated that the after care has been soooooo poor. This is apparently what every American is warned about when considering medical tourism. By the way, the doctor decided not to lipo my upper or lower back or arms, which I paid for. He didn't tell me this, I had to see myself when the bandages came off. Really looking forward to an explanation on that and my new pig nose.
