"Instant Regret Tattoo Removal...." Boston, MA

ORIGINAL POST

I need to start by saying this site and your posts...

ASG1
WORTH IT$325
I need to start by saying this site and your posts have both helped me tremendously, I am glad to find out that I am not alone. I have a few tattoos and I love them all. I have always wanted an arm sleeve done and have spent quite a while drawing up all of the pieces to complete my arm. I had a large shoulder tattoo extended and added to back in 2014 so I couldn't wait to continue down my arm. I waited quite a while to schedule the new work on my forearm and was counting down the days til my appointment which was back in early December 2015. Well, the artist did a great job with my new work that is for sure. I woke up the day after getting my new forearm art and was instantly sick to my stomach looking at it, still not sure how or why this has happened to me. If I didn't find this site and your stories I would still be wondering what was wrong with me but now I realize how this instant regret feeling happens and it happens to a lot of us! I waited out the few weeks of "new tattoo shock" but nothing changed, I can't look at it, I can't look at myself in the mirror, and I keep it covered from anyone seeing it 24/7. I will start by saying this has and is going to be a long process that has added a lot more stress and depression to my life. I have been in a tough place going through a divorce with a 5 year old son that is my world. I am going to somehow attempt to get through the next year without letting anyone know I had this work done. I understand this will be close to impossible but I am going to make it happen, I have been sick to my stomach daily because of this new work on my arm. I am not having the entire tattoo removed which complicates things a bit more, it goes around my forearm therefore would require 2 separate processes of removal.

I had 2 consultations, both at dedicated tattoo laser removal clinics. The first consultation only uses the Rev Light and quoted me $450 a session with a minimum of about 10 sessions for removal. The 2nd clinic has both the Rev Light and Pico machines, Rev Light is $325 a session and the Pico is $750 a session. I have spent the past 2 months here reviewing what to do and I am still not sure so I went with the Rev Light $325 for my first session which was just 36 hours ago. The staff recommended starting with the Rev Light for a few sessions then switching over to the Pico. I think I am going to alternate between the Rev Light and Pico for the first 4 sessions and then decide which to go with after that. I cannot believe the cost, time, and stress this has/is caused but I am so glad I at least started this process. I hope to update this as I go so maybe I can help someone else in their journey....

My tattoo is only outline and shading, I did not go back for color work thankfully to finding this site and reading about removal of colors on top of outline/shading. The first couple of pics are before the process of removal, the others are 36 hours post 1st session. I am not sure how clear the pics are using my phone, you can see the difference of the removal work already. I did not have the outside roses touched as I am keeping that part of the tattoo, the removal is only for the skeleton (Bertha) and body. More to come as I will be going every six weeks for another session.

Please please feel free to comment any advice you may have from your experience, from all of my research Pico is faster and will get the work removed faster but it is so expensive. If Pico is that much better than Rev Light I will certainly find a way to have all of the removal work done using Pico ! I wish you all the best during your journey, thank you for posting and helping others going through the same journey as it has helped me tremendously.

Hi:-) from all the reviews I have seen on this page, and my own experience with q switched - it is not worth to pay more for pico in case of only black tattoos. If you would have blue or purple then it would be worth it. Not sure if revlite has similar results to q switched.

thank you, from what I understand the Rev Lite is a q switch. I can see a difference after only 1 session, although it has only been 3 days since the session the area treated is already lighter in color !

I am going through the exact same thing with a tattoo on my inner forearm I got less than two weeks ago. I wanted a tattoo there so bad, I have a couple of other ones that are subtle (you wouldn't really know I had them unless I move a certain way) and I love them. This new one is so in your face and doesn't go with my style or any clothes at all and I can't cover it up because I live in Florida and it is right there on my arm. It was done beautifully, but every day I wake up feeling sick to my stomach about it and I don't feel like doing ANYTHING. I Just wanted to tell you that I feel your pain and I'm sorry you're going through this. It is really comforting to know you're not alone though. I thought I was the only person in the world who had instant tattoo regret... Just keep thinking positive. Good luck!

thank you, I hope the same for you as well. If it weren't for stories I have found here I surely would never have known I am not the only person to feel instant regret getting something I had wanted for so long...... I have covered mine from everyone 24/7, been wearing compression sleeves all the time and plan on a long sleeve surf shirt for the summer days at the pool or beach. A long journey ahead but I am trying to remain hopeful

I am so glad i'm not the only one to experience immediate regret. I got a coverup done a few days ago and it is so much bigger than the old one that I just can't get used to it. My worry is that I had a lot of colour put into it (flowers) and I've since discovered they're much more difficult to remove :( I hope your removal goes well.

I welcome and would love to know people's thoughts comparing Picosure and Revlite? I had session 1 with Revlite 10 days ago with very little discomfort (blisters, scabbing) afterwards but don't really see any difference now that it's almost healed.... I may go for Pico for session #2 at the end of March, hopefully twice the price of Revlite means it works better?

I welcome anyone's thoughts and experience, also does anyone have a laser center preferably with an actual Doctor in the Boston area they can recommend?

Thanks Eva, do you know of any posts regarding Succesful removal near Boston? I imagine who does the laser is just as important as to which laser?

I actually think this is a beautiful piece (even unfinished), but as I've seen said so often here, if it's not for you then it's not for you, and it should go!

I have lived with one of my tattoos for THREE YEARS trying to convince myself that I liked it, but I finally came to terms that I really detest it. Three years of covering it up and it's finally going. It's going to be and long, slow process (and this one is small), but it will be worth it. I can't wait to see your progress in the coming months!!

Thank you, I will continue to update as I go. I plan on every six weeks and fairly sure I'm trying Pico for #2 at the end of March. All the best to you too !

5 weeks after Session 1 Rev Lite

ASG1
These pics are 5 weeks since my first Rev Lite session. I can see tiny line fading here and there but not much at all. I found a spa with the Enlighten laser and have a consultation today. I will be trying the Enlighten treatment for session #2 in a few weeks as long as I can afford it !

I had my consult today for the Enlighten Laser removal and I am beyond happy! I will have my first session with this laser Tuesday March 24, 2016. Dream Spa Medical located in Brookline, MA is such a great facility. The staff are amazing, informative, and perhaps the best part is the cost. For a total of $1600 they are removing my entire forearm tattoo in a possible 5 sessions !!! If it takes more than 5 there is no additional cost, I feel beyond lucky I found them today and cannot wait for this process to start and be over with. Anyone in the Boston area need to visit Dream Spa Medical ! I will update next week

Don't be too discouraged by minimal fading after each session. Any fading that you notice is GOOD fading! That means it's working! I used to get depressed a few weeks after each session when I wouldn't notice much of a difference from the previous session, but then I'd compare my current fading to some of my earlier pictures and WOW, big difference!

That being said, I can't wait to see your next pictures and what you think of the one laser versus the other!

Enlighten laser treatment #1

ASG1
Some quick pics 3 hours after my first Enlighten laser treatment. I did not use any numbing treatment or cooling fan, it was painful but not as painful as my first Rev Lite treatment 6 weeks ago. These pics don't show the redness and blisters that are already forming too well but wanted to update you all. I will update more in depth in a few days. I am so glad I found the spa with the Enlighten laser !!

How much was the Enlighten treatment? There's a place that does it 3 hours from me and I'm thinking about trying it out. Do you remember what settings were used during treatment?
March 23, 2016

I found a fantastic spa for the Enlighten laser, everything about Dream Spa in Brookline, MA is amazing. I was expecting it to cost a lot but somehow lucked out. They offered to remove my entire forearm tattoo in 5 sessions, if I need more than 5 there is no additional cost for $1600 total price !! We had the laser set to 2.0 for my first session last night. I am blown away by the price and the attention the staff provides, can't say enough about them. I recommend anyone remotely close to Boston to absolutely pay them a visit.

I wish you the best in this painful journey
