With cancer in my right parotid gland and facial nerves, I needed 3 surgeons: an ENT, an otolaryngologist, and plastic surgeon Dr. Lin. Dr. Lin masterfully re-constructed the right side of my face and head, importing a leg nerve to replace the diseased facial nerves and grafting nerve XII to VII, enabling me to speak and eat and have some mobility in my face for smiling and closing my right eyelid. Cosmetically the 14 inch branched scar is invisible. Internally Dr. Lin created a facial nerve network that is amazing, functional, and greatly appreciated. An excellent Facial Physical Therapist helped me activate and train that network so that my facial appearance and movements seem normal.
