Fun with Old Bras and New Boobs
WORTH IT
I finally decided to go through my drawers and get rid of the thousands of dollars of bras I have purchased over the years. The only thing that makes me feel less bothered by the terrible expense of supporting giant breasts for years and years is that I no longer have to wear these! They are being donated to a local nursing home, where I am assured they will find happy users. I have a big of a giggle picturing some of the older ladies in the bras that are not so utilitarian but more sexy!

3 months post op
I am 3 months post op and all is well. There are times, now that I am spoiled with these smaller breasts, that I wish they were even smaller. When I think about where I was when I started, though, I tell myself to knock it off--they are drastically different. Plus, I also need to remind myself that taking off too much might have compromised the breast tissue and blood supply, not to mention nipple health. My nipples are every bit as sensitive as they were before and one is even more so. The breasts have settled a bit--no longer as firm and high as they were--but they feel very natural. The cars are still a bit red, but are completely flat. Just waiting for them to fade.
I had a relaxing and enjoyable summer, which translates to "good food and good wine." And THAT translates to the fact that I didn't lose the extra weight that I wanted to. So now that fall is around the corner, I have to get some religion on that diet.
I am supposed to see my PS at the 3 month mark, so I need to make that appointment. I have no issues, so it will most likely be routine ands brief. I would like to ask her about a tummy tuck for after I lose the weight.

Two Months Post
It's approximately 2 months now since my surgery. Healing has proceeded nicely and my new breasts finally feel like MY breasts. For a long time they felt like appendages of sorts. Now they seem to have settled nicely onto my chest and they feel familiar! Nipple sensation is good, if not better than when I had giant breasts. I find this to be so odd, but I Like it. I occasionally feel a zinger or two, or an odd pain here and there, but it's not lasting. Overall, they are barely tender, if at all.
I allowed myself to go swimming yesterday, which was the first real exercise I have had since the surgery. It felt so good to be moving more. In the fall, I guess I'll return to the gym again. I don't suspect weights will be an issue. Got to lose that weight! next goal: the tummy tuck!

I had mine done on 6/17. I am having the same zinger occasional pain. From what I have read its all normal. Congratulations on your new look. I am very happy with mine as well. my front zipper sport bras are the best. easy to wear and sleep in. I put a tank top underneath just in case. I'm still leery on the scars underneath. They are healed but want to make sure nothing rubs on them .

Congratulations! I tend to sleep in a front zip sports bra (Platex--not that supportive so more comfort to sleep in), but during the day I like something with a little more support. My favorite is the Champion sports bra which really holds the girls tightly.

Your scars re gone. And you look great! My surgeon took 5 hours too my surgery. I don't know some of these surgeons do it in 2 hours. I'm 2 yrs since my surgery and I still get an occasional zinger or slight discomfort but all in all. I'm vey happy I didn't . Your healing sooo good !

Thanks! I am relieved to hear that the occasional zingers and/tenderness are normal!

Looks like you didn't have the anchor cut. Did you?

No, I did not. I had the Boston Modified Robertson technique. No vertical incision. It's a good option for women with breasts that have a lot of ptosis, as mine did. My surgeon also felt that because of my very thin skin and lack of elasticity that it would be the better choice so I wouldn't have issues at the T-junction. We spoke about both types of surgeries and the morning of my surgery, she told me that she thought the BMR surgery would best suit me. I think that sometimes better shaping can be done with the Wise Pattern technique, but I was more worried about healing issues. I am thrilled.

I think the BMR technique has been around a while, but most surgeons do not do it. I think that is mostly because it is not widely known. One of two will say they feel the breast shape is not as nice. I know of 3 surgeons who perform it, and they are all in the Boston area. There have been some studies done about it, all with good results. Ptosis of the breast is just another way of referring to extreme sagging. I've had a lot of weight gain and loss over the course of my life, in my breasts especially. Also, the tendency to sag can run in families.

This is so helpful. Thanks a lot for sharing about your experience. I am looking at two surgeons in the Boston area. Both do both techniques and I have been deciding between the two. Your results look beautiful! So appreciative that you shared them.
