WORTH IT
I was so scared to have this procedure done. I have terrible anxiety and fear around anything medical related! But with that said, I have also suffered a great deal because of my large breasts. Like most women on this site I developed at around age 14. It was hell from there on out! I did a good job of concealing my large chest, but I was always uncomfortable. I am fairly petite and have a small frame so I felt completely out of proportion. I started doing serious research in the fall of 2014 and made an appointment with my surgeon in March 2015. I found her through a review on here and she is amazing! I met with her and I got approved within 3 weeks by my insurance. I had my surgery 5/18/15. I couldn't be happier with the results. Honestly, the most painful part of the whole procedure was the constipation from the pain meds! Also the pain meds made me super sick so I got off them on day 3 post-op. I have been taking Tylenol only(besides stool softener) and I am doing great! Trying my best to take it easy because I am the type of person who needs to be busy constantly. I am so grateful that I was able to get this procedure covered by insurance. I would encourage anyone to go for it and if you have any questions let me know. Best of luck to all and happy healing. :)

I just bought a compression bra for after surgery and it fits me exactly like yours in the before picture lol . I hope I look as good as you afterwards >_<  Thanks for your post !

yay!! I'm still wearing the surgical bra they sent me home in until my follow-up appt. next week. I tried this on today though to compare ;) . Good luck and keep us posted. I'm sure you will be as happy as me once it's done!

How did you deal with your fear before the procedure? Any tips? I'm so scared. My surgery is scheduled for June 1st.

I kept reminding myself that this is something that I've wanted for years and it will be over in a matter of hours. The actual surgery is such a small price to pay in comparison to the relief you will feel! Anxiety is natural though ! Let the nurses know that you are scared and they will help you through it! Remember to breathe :)

Also you will be asleep the whole time and have no recollection of the procedure, I promise !!

I am 7 weeks post op and went from a ddd to a b. I put a swimsuit on for the first time today. Best feeling ever. Try to think of all the benefits. Also, stay busy. The anxiety for me was the worst part. The procedure and recovery is no big ordeal. I'm serious. Just be prepared to rest and heal and you will do great. Don't push yourself. I took one pain pill when I got home and then only Tylenol. One more thing, I had a hard time finding a good bra after. You want something that won't irritate your underneath incisions which are the most uncomfortable of all. I reluctantly bought a $120 bra that was my life saver. Still my go to bra. You will do great!

Will you post a picture of your $120 bra and where did you purchase it from

Thank you. I'm such a jumble of emotions.

I bought it online at www.postopbra.com. I called and they helped me with sizing.

What insurance company do you have? I have a consultation on Friday, and I'm hoping that my insurance will cover it.
May 25, 2015
BlueCross BlueShield. If they don't approve it at first you can always appeal it. Some insurance companies require you to provide proof that it's medically necessary (chiropractor visits, pain meds, Dr visits). I was fortunate that I got approved the first time around without providing that info. Best of luck!

Wow, you look great! I love the comparison pics in the same bra. I'm a little over 2 weeks away and preparing what I'll need afterwards. How did you know what kind and what size bra to buy? And where did you get one? My dr said to get a size large sports bra, but he didn't say front close and then I read here that you can't raise your arms and front closure are preferable. Wondering what kind of shirts to buy too. I keep reading about the need for stool softeners. Is prune juice alone not enough? Any suggestions are welcome! Also, I am a 34 G, GG. I would like to be a 34 C. But I was told one can't pick a bra size per se. So how does one pick a size one likes?

Thank you!! The hospital where I got my surgery done sent me home with the bra I need to wear for the first two weeks post-op. I just tried on that bra for fun to compare! That bra in the pictures is a size Medium. I bought a medium because I discussed with my surgeon at my consultation that I preferred to be on the smaller side. I told her I wanted to be a full B/small C. I have a small frame so I estimated that a medium would fit and it did! The bra is from Wal-Mart and it was only $10 for a two pack. Hopefully I can switch to it by next week after my post-op appointment. For sports bras I think you can estimate the size, just remember you will want to be comfortable! Another woman on this site got the bra first and she let me know where she got it. I also ordered two wireless sports bras from Hanes.com which are soo soft and comfortable. It's hard to judge but if worse comes to worse, you just exchange it for a different size :) As for the stool softeners, I would highly suggest, actually urge, you to buy some! As I've said before the constipation was the most painful part of the whole recovery process thus far for me. I only took pain meds for 2 1/2 days and they still backed me up terribly. I had to take laxatives as well because it was just so painful! Good luck and keep us posted. :)
