Fraxel CO2 Laser for Facial Scar

Update 3 weeks post laser
I think the last picture was not accurate, maybe the lighting. This pic shows the before and after more clearly. I think the scar may be slightly improved from the laser. I will be going back for another round in a few weeks. I really think doing subcision would help but I cannot find anyone in my area (Boston) to do it surprisingly. One doctor from NY recommended subcision with microneedling and then dermastamp to blend the edges. I really wish I could find someone to do it!

Have u thought about filling the scar with fillers?

1 week post CO2 laser
This picture is a comparison of my scar with no filler (left), filler only (middle), 1 treatment of CO2 laser (right). Maybe the ridges of the scar have less shadowing after the laser? Hope so.

Please keep us updated I have a scar similar.... does your scar have any hairs or pores and is it slightly whiter than surrounding skin love to see how laser works for this good luck:)
Thanks. It does not have any hairs or pores that I can see. Yes, it is whiter than the surrounding skin.
Same as mine which makes it more noticeable:( I've been told excision is the best to trade the circle scar for a line scar have you thought about this ?
I have been told that because of the location of my scar that excision could end up being a line WITH a hole which scares me. If I could be sure I was trading a hole for a line then I would definitely consider it. Also, for mine they said the line would be about an inch long.
I know what your saying anything could go wrong but with an experienced surgeon an excision would be great followed after about 6 weeks with laser or so ive been told ...either way I really feel for you being in the same boat with my scar one day there will be a light at the end for all our scars :)

Hi, you might find that Profractional by Sciton is good for that area too. Filler is just so temporary and most surgeons require a full vile, which is very expensive, unless you use it on the rest of your face. Honestly, your best bet would be a fat transfer! It would require so little fat, but if it worked, then it should last a good deal longer or a really thick filler, like Radiesse.
Thanks for your comment! He was originally going to use the Sciton laser but changed his mind - not sure why. What is the difference? Would a fat transfer be injected like a filler? I would be happy with even a slight improvement!
I've never had CO2--Scition tends to have less redness. It's just what I'm used to. A fat transfer is like a filler. The only issue is it can take a few "injections" to see if the fat takes. Fat is removed from somewhere like the back of your thighs. It is spun in a centrifuge, then separated/ injected. Not all fat survives, as most of it doesn't, which requires multiple injections over the course of a few months. It can be expensive too. The good thing with fat, is that after about 6 months, whatever "survives" is pretty much there to stay.

I am in a similar predicament with an indented (atrophic) scar that radiates from my upper lip. Only two of five surgeons I consulted with (either online/Skype or in-person) thought my scar could be excised surgically, for a better appearance. So now, I am going to try CO2. Would you mind messaging me and letting me know about your experience?
