Hi all , after weeks of countless calls and reading reviews I've booked in with Dr Mooney. My first preference was Dr Shahidi but I was quoted 16 thousand and tonne honest my nose isn't even that bad. I just found $16000 too much . I've booked my consult with Dr Mooney and am just after some positive reviews - everyone seems to be really negative ! Also some info on how much over all cost was paid by anyone who had rhino and any other details ? Any help is appreciated !!!!

Hey there. I'm a patient of his. Go to ratemds.com there are a bunch of reviews on there. I've found the bad reviews are quite old ones. His style is quite rushed but he has been my ENT for nearly ten years and I've had a few proceedures with him inc sinus surgery with Rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, chin implant and fillers. Thanks to him my quality of life has improved immeasurably. I can breath through my nose, I don't get sinus infections anymore. I'm really happy with the cosmetic results. I think he has a real less is more approach and focus on functionality. Some ppl want a tiny perfect nose but it can't be done without compromising their airways. He revised my sinus surgery & Rhinoplasty 9 years after the original for free because new developments meant he felt he could give me improved cosmetic & functionality. Which it has. I like him but I understand his style is not for everyone. He performs the most Rhinoplasty in Australia about 6 a week, so naturally there will be some unhappy ppl. I'm quite assertive with Doctors & I've been specific with him about what I want and didn't want. I wanted to look natural & even my family & friends haven't picked what I've had done. They just say you look so young etc. Read some more reviews & meet with him. But remember you're not buying a car this is surgery. You need realistic expectations and your results will be individual, you cant take in a picture of a celebrity & get the same nose. He told me he only does about 5 revisions of his own work a year so that's pretty good. His staff are all patients too. Let me know if u have anymore questions :)
Hi hbanham, this is really positive. Thank you. I had a consult recently but the more research I do, the more negatives I come across. I found him to be really professional and we spoke about a nose that was still complementary with the rest of my face. Have these patients had unrealistic expectations?
Thank you for being honest.
Hi. Have you had your surgery? I was so devastated by his work. I ended up with something so different to what we discussed. 3 years on, still can't look in the mirror. I hope you had better luck! x
I decided to go with Doctor Alan Evans , I'm just two months in and my nose is amazing - other then issues with my skin and developing a bit of after surgery acne I am more then happy with the results !!!
I am 9 years on from my revision rhinoplasty with Dr Mooney after my original sinus surgery with Dr Mooney the year prior which included rhinoplasty only to correct a deviated septum. I wasn't especially unhappy with the shape or size of my original nose. Dr Mooney did what he wanted without regard for my wants (which was a functional nose with very slight difference from my original nose) and afterwards referenced the 'cute' nose he had given me. I am a grown woman and was not aiming to look 'cute.' For reasons never explained to me he gave me a very short nose that looks awful on my face. The revision was required due to my new nose obviously slanting to one side, where my original nose did not. The revision was intended to straighten this only following surgery I found that he had entirely changed my nose shape and made it smaller still. It looks awful and I cannot bare seeing it in photo's or the mirror. Cartilage at the end of my nose is also clearly protruding and highly visible which it wasn't at all prior to my original surgery with Dr Mooney. Sunglasses do not sit properly on my face as a result of the surgery and despite having tried wearing a range of styles in the yeas since the surgeries all slide down my nose due to the inadequate bridge.

My sinus surgery results have been excellent however and enabled me to breathe through my nose for the first time in my life.

The cost of my original surgery was around $16k.

I was also charged some type of fee, possibly for the anaesthetist and hospital for the revision rhinoplasty nightmare.

Dr Mooney has a friendly approach and can be humorous. His appointments are extremely rushed and much too short (under 3minutes at a time) to provide an opportunity to properly discuss procedures and concerns. Despite arriving prior to my booked appointment time it was common to have to wait up to two hours to actually go in to see him.

At some stage I will need to have the cartilage issue addressed. I would be too terrified to allow another surgeon to ever operate on my nose again, and certainly not Dr Mooney.

I wish it were possible to re-grow my original nose length and shape.
Same boat, currently getting steroid injections with him that last two days then back to the same swollen tip. One year and a half on since surgery and still unhappy
Go to someone else to fix what he did. He shouldn’t be practising and actually can’t perform a number of surgeries under his license due to killings two patients during routine procedures. I went to him years ago and my nose doesn’t function. He is also the biggest sleeve
Mooney is the best. You wont regret it. Just as expensive as Shahidi is (probably more) but its your face...dont skimp on the cost of your face if its worth it!!!!
I'm happy with my revision 12 months on. Dr.Mooney does a lot of noses. More than anyone in Australia I've been told. It makes sense when you do a lot that a percentage aren't happy & they're probably more likely to post bad reviews. You have to go with who your comfortable with but results are not something you can select from a catalogue & he does tend to be less guided by you than his own aesthetic opinion but I was happy with that because I trusted him
I suppose my surgery with Dr Mooney was more with functionality in mind. The first surgery was a game changer in terms of functionality. The appearance was improved. The revision 10 years on he performed free as I was having an eye lift at the same time. I needed more sinus cleaning. Again the functionality was vastly improved and cosmetically I'm very happy. It looks natural. My nose was very messed up after breaking when I was young and my sinuses a mess after years of allergies. The surgeries were necessary for me and cosmetically a huge improvement over the crooked mess I had. I had no complications and my nose functions and looks good I'm happy.
This guy is an absolute sociopath. He claims to do the highest number of nose jobs in Australia, he only cares about money and big noting himself. He has all kinds of conditions on his license as he has recently lost two patients during routine procedures. I went to him a few years ago and regret it my breathing is terrible. He was rude, arrogant and more concerned with what he was doing on the weekend than my health. He also was a giant sleeve. Stay clear. Hideous person, horrific doctor. Should be struck off and maybe by the sounds of it. He isn’t allowed to operate at st Vincent’s bc of his previous behaviour.
Hi anonymous. I had my surgery with him in StVincents last year in March. Where is your information coming from? It sounds shocking if it's true!
