Office Review: Poor Practices

ORIGINAL POST

Poor Practices

During my search for a doctor who specialized in mommy makeovers, I came across Dr. Cabbabe. I went to several consultations with several doctors before landing at his office. I had a virtual consult, then made the trip over to St. Louis to have an in-person consult. At the time of the consult, he informed me that I would need to do my hernia repair before my surgery date (the date I had selected was six weeks away) to ensure there wouldn’t be any chances of losing my belly button. This was new to me as no other plastic surgeon requested this previously in my consults. I was able to get my hernia surgery scheduled within two weeks with a surgeon at home. I had the surgery and was feeling terrible for three days and couldn’t understand why. I even reached out to Dr. Cabbabe and his office to let them know what was going on. That same day my surgeon called and told me that a mistake had been made and I needed to go back into surgery the next day. I again messaged Dr. Cabbabe to let him know what was going on. The day I had my second surgery was my 30-day deadline to pay or lose my deposit. Going through two surgeries in four days was tough on everyone in my house. Now that I had a complication I realized my plan for surgery in 30 days needed to be adjusted. Originally Dr. Cabbabe said I should drive home the next day after surgery (5.5 hours away) to recover at home. After having this experience with a simple procedure I realized I needed to plan to stay in St. Louis and make a change to my date to do so. When I reached out to Dr. Cabbabe and his office they informed me I was at the 30-day mark for my surgery date. If I wanted to reschedule I lost my deposit and needed to pay a new deposit plus a rescheduling fee. I only scheduled my hernia repair at his request and communicated the entire time with everything that was happening. I didn't request to cancel my surgery just to move my date due to wanting to be prepared after having gone through so much. If you want a doctor who cares about you and your well-being and not just the money I would recommend looking elsewhere. A $1,000 would mean more than making sure I was healed and prepared for surgery.
