Amazing Experience from Consultation to Recovery!

I've had an amazing experience with Dr Cardenas. When I first decided I wanted to get surgery to remove excess skin after losing 200 lbs, I first sought out local plastic surgeons in Virginia. The quotes I were getting were over $40k for a 360 mid body lift, lipo in a couple of areas and some gynecomastia removal. That was above what I was able to spend. They also really under-emphasized the recovery and how much help you need. After reading accounts of others who've had these surgeries on reddit, I realized I would need professional help for recovery. Many people talked up their experiences in Mexico so I researched and found 2 Mexican plastic surgeons that seemed to be very well reviewed and had a lot of experience with this kind of surgery.
The consultation i had with Dr Cardenas was amazing. She was both very realistic about expectations and placed a massive emphasis on recovery and my health before the surgery. She spent 4 times more time with me talking me through everything than my local surgeons did. She also told me she wanted me to lose a little more weight and gave me a goal weight by surgery time. She also set me up for 9 nights in her recovery center which was all included in the package.
My surgery consisted of the 360 incision mid body lift with fleur de lis vertical incision to pull in the skin from my sides. It also included the gynecomastia removal and chest skin resection to align and tighten my chest as well. This also included some lipo in certain areas such as my flanks and the sides of my chest. All of that, including 9 nights in the recovery center cost half of what my local surgeons quoted me, and they were doing less with no aftercare included. I scheduled the surgery for 10 months out so I could meet the health goals she set for me.
Her staff were very professional and helpful, answering all of my questions and getting health updates from me monthly. They set up transportation for me from the airport and between office visits while I was there. The recovery house was amazing, but I'll review them directly in their page. Let me just say, though, THIS is the reason to come to her over having it done locally. Having nurses helping you and treating your incisions, healthy and tasty meals prepared for you throughout the day, and so many people making sure you have to expend virtually zero effort during your recovery makes your recovery so much better and massively helps prevent any complications. Dr Cardenas also visited me multiple times during my recovery to check on everything and that is simply not care I could have gotten back home.
I'm incredibly happy with my results. I'm still recovering of course, but pain management has been amazing. Besides soreness from muscle repair, I've had almost zero pain in my incisions. Dr Cardenas makes use of a peridural (epidural) line in your back that remains for the majority of your start in the recovery house. The nurses push pain meds through this port frequently, which eliminates any pain in the incisions. I was so worried how I would feel during recovery, but it has been amazing how well it has gone.
Bottom line, I am overjoyed i chose Dr Cardenas for my procedure. The hospital where the surgery took place was amazing and very nice. Dr Cardenas was extremely comforting and truly cared both about my health and recovery throughout the process. Her staff and the recovery house staff was beyond amazing. I could not be happier in made this choice! Thank you again Dr Cardenas!!!!
