Have Permalip Implant but want to Remove and Get Lip Lift or Something else - Boca Raton, FL

I have very, very thin lips. When I see people's before photos, I wish I had that. Even in my 20's my lips were think like someone in their 70s. I got a Permalip implant by a reputable doctor in Boca Raton, FL years ago. Well guess what, it hardly made a difference from the front. From the side there was a little volume but mainly in the area right above my vermillion border, not the lips themselves. The result reminded me of how Simpsons characters look from the side, the profile goes out a bit but no actual lips. Anyway the issue I am having, aside from still having very, very thin lips with barely any pink upper lip showing at all, is that the implant seems to sit too high and it makes me look like a have a faint mustache, even after waxing. The shadow, coupled with the unnatural and hard to the touch texture, and the lack of pouty lips, is making me want it gone.

I am strongly considering a bullhorn lip lift but I am posting to see if anyone else has any other recommendations. My concern is that I will have a smaller philtrum and some teeth show (so manybe I look a bit younger?) but still no lips. I want big kissable lips. I don't want to look like a mouth breather! I've got a few things going on that make me very unhappy and ugly feeling right now.

1) No upper lip/nothing to put lipstick on
2) no tooth show
3) corners droop and SO many people ask me "what's wrong, are you ok" (Resting [RS bleep] Face)
4) ridge or shadow on the flesh part above my lip

Am I being critical? Yes. But I feel very old old and manly and really want some help.

I'm having similar thoughts myself. I'm young and I'm now so sad I got them. My lips looked better before and these make me look like I'm frowning and enhance my nasolobial folds. I really wish I could reverse this! I'm thinking of removing them and getting a lip lift. If only I could get time off work to remove them...

I had a consult and the NP recommended Juvaderm for my sour expression. I was considering a corner lip lift but may try fillers first. Although I never considered myself too worried about the 'parenthesis' lines or marionette lines...just the downward corners. But she was saying it's less invasive and less costly than corner surgery.

I always felt like I had rather harsh features that were magnified by the appearance of my thin lips. Since I was a child, people had been asking what I was so mad about when I was just sitting and thinking about nothing in particular. So I researched lip lift surgery and found Dr. Spiegel in Boston. He has lots of experience with facial feminization procedures, so he was the perfect choice for me. If it's an option for you, I would suggest checking him out. I traveled from Texas to Boston, just because I felt like he was perfect for my situation. Wishing you the best--keep me posted!

Wow! I love your results, Dr. Couple questions:
1) General or local?
2) Any risk to the white roll?
3) Price?
Caroline, I'm so sorry you didn't achieve what you wanted. I think lip lift or advancement would make a world of difference. I definitely see an enlargement, but it could be the lip liner.

I am sitting outside my Dr's office waiting for my appt. to get the upper implant removed. I look like I have a mustache. My Dr already removed the upper once, and created a new tunnel to "fix" the issue, but the same issue persists, maybe even worse than original. My smile is wonky too. Considering a lip lift as well. Have a consult Monday with Dr Mascaro, and also in a few weeks with Dr Talei. Fillers only last a few weeks on me!
