I was against plastic surgery, as I had only seen what I would call "bad reconstruction ". Going to see Dr. Bogue changed not only my opinion, but also my life. I am so happy I went to a consultation and ultimately had my bilateral reconstruction . I am cancer free and I also have breasts that look and feel like my own. Thank you Dr. Bogue. You are a wonderful plastic surgeon and you helped me overcome my fear and gave me back what God intended I have.

Oh I'm so happy for you! Congratulations on being cancer free and getting your breasts back. You look great and natural! What type of reconstructive surgery did you get? Flap, etc? Thank you for sharing your inspirational story with us on RealSelf!

Hi, I have had a bi-lateral mastectomy with 2 reconstructions 10 years apart using silicone and both op's have been unsatisfactory and look nothing like real ones. This in turn has affected how I feel about myself as a woman. How would you feel about elaborating on the type of reconstruction you had and are the results still as you appear in the photo. I find with silicone they look semi OK immediately after and then about a year later they encapsulate and become painful and mishap-en.

I had bi-lateral reconstruction as well with silicone implants. I started getting the "rippling" and encapsulation as well. Massage your breasts every night. Also go to a physical therapist that is lymphedema certified. They will help you with your massage technique and they can break the cords that are causing the encapsulation.

Thanks for sharing. I'm living with what I have post reconstruction for now, but when I have to redo them, I have higher hopes. Congrats on being cancer free! I am, too! :-)
