40 Yr Old Sublingual Braces

After deliverying for a long time I finally decided to make the change my teeth so desperately needed. My first appointment was today. I almost didn't make it because I was so afraid at how it would be living for 12 month with wires running behind my teeths.

After the orthodontists placed the braces I felt pretty good. Comfortable, pain free and with normal speech (not much impaired by the foreign braces). The problem came at night when I went out for diner.... my first order was soup because I wanted to be extra careful, but since eating the soup was not a big deal I decided to order something with a little more substance, so I order some steam veggies. When the food arrived I was feeling so comfortable that I started eating without thinking about it. After a couple of minutes I realized that all the chewing had made my tonge raw. The pain persisted through out the entire diner, so I had to stop eating. Bottom line, I start feeling very uncomfortable and stressed out. Luckily the ortho gave me some wax to cover the wires which helped a lot to calm down the pain. The question is: can I keep using the wax all the time? I don't think I can handle the pain otherwise
