Dr. Ennis, an Exceptionally Talented Doctor
I initially met Donna, whom I later found out is Dr. Ennis' wife. She is a darling, very sweet and a great personality, with a welcoming beautiful smile. I felt very comfortable and she made my nervousness go away when I met Dr. Ennis.
Prior to my consultation, I had already done a lot of research and found a lot of helpful information on a multitude of websites, and I had a clear idea of the look I wanted. I wanted a look that was natural and proportionate to my body type. I am a petite woman, 5'4", 103 lbs, 48 years old, breast fed two kids, bra size 34A at Victoria Secret (although a 32A would probably have fit better as I had lost a lot of weight within the past year).
Dr. Ennis explained the different implants and sizing available; I wanted silicone as it would provide a more natural feel and appearance. I am fortunate that I didn't need a breast lift or other procedures and I went into the consultation with realistic expectations about the size and appearance I wanted. A few pictures were taken and then a 3D imaging software was used to give me an idea of what the end result would look like. We looked at different implant sizes and found that 295cc (left) and 310cc (right) would look best on my body type. I did not feel rushed and Dr. Ennis kindly answered all of my questions.
Within the same month, I scheduled my BA procedure and here is my experience:
My surgery was scheduled in the morning and when I woke up from surgery, I was still a bit out of it as I was still getting over the anesthesia. When I arrived home I felt nauseous and needed to go to sleep. I only took the pain meds once that afternoon. I woke up hours later and felt very good. The pain I thought I was going to have was more like that pain I had when my breasts were engorged after having my babies. I believe that due to having breast fed two kids the pain that I experienced was diminished as my skin was already stretched out for that. The "pain" was more like a really big discomfort and I didn't take any medication after that. The only issue I had was the sleeping position. Sleeping up right was very uncomfortable.
I had a follow up with Dr. Ennis 1 week after surgery. Driving was very hard as I was still very swollen and sore. The soreness you feel the day after doing a really hard workout where you are so sore you can't move a muscle but, the truth of the matter is, you have to use those muscles even though it hurts so that you can feel better. After Dr. Ennis massaged my breasts (it was painful) it felt so much better! He used a lot of pressure, something I wouldn't have done thinking the silicone was going to break or something but, after that, I started doing the massages with just as much pressure. I felt that was the turning point to a quicker recovery.
Weeks 2 and 3 I was still sleeping in an elevated position but, not as upright as the first week.
By week 4, my breasts felt like a part of my body. It no longer felt like a foreign object and I was sleeping on my back without any issues. I started working out a little bit, slowly, 3 lb weights, no upper body flexing and focusing mainly on lower body.
Now at week 7 I feel great. I still can't do planks but, can work on my abs without any issues with some modifications to some of the exercises.
Dr. Ennis and his staff is great. It is so important to feel comfortable with not only the doctor who will be performing surgery on you but, with the staff too!
I am not worried about cup size. I am so glad I had BA. I look and feel so much better about myself.
I highly recommend Dr. Ennis. He is a true professional and has a great bed side manner (this is a people person job and this quality is so very important as you are entrusting your health and life to your doctor).
