TT & Lipo to hips. Procedure done 4-13-17Ever since I was 7, I've had a lop sided tummy due to an appendectomy scar. My first child was my biggest baby and she stretched me out quite a bit. Then onto have to having two more babies. I honestly never disliked my stretch marks just always dreamed of a more symmetrical tummy. I currently weigh 168 but my weight has usually fluctuated, always coming back to this weight. Was soooo ready to have comfindence wearing any shirt with out the budge above my appendectomy scar.

Hello, omg... you are brave to post those pics! They almost made me nauseous --- ONLY BECAUSE I am scheduled to have a tummy tuck with lipo in 2 weeks!! I am getting extremely nervous! I am about your size. What is recovery like? Will I have those drainage things also? I didn't realize that!! I go to my pre-op appointment next week. On one hand, I am so excited about it, but on the other I am getting a little scared! Any advice? Thanks.

Oh sorry, I just saw all your posts below. Sorry, I am new to navigating around on this site. Still any advice would be appreciated! :)

My recovery went very well. I am HIGHLY OCD, which made it tough to stay put. Recliner or a couch with lots of pillows, stool softener, Tylenol, ABD dressing pads, paper tape, Tylenol...I didn't need to take strong pain meds but everyone is different. A good book or Netflix, propel packets for water was my go to, to keep hydrated and get electrolytes that plain water doesn't give you. Be excited, I won't ever regret this. I would do it 10 times over. The drains are usually put in bc the excess fluid needs out, most people have at least one put in, but a lot have 2....either in the pubic region or hips. I am very happy with my results and I haven't even gotten to my best yet! Good luck!

Thank you for your response! I am excited, just a little nervous too. Did you also have lipo? I'm getting lipo on my back and abdomen, plus the tummy tuck - so the works. I'm just wondering how I'll sleep the first night. Hopefully I'll be heavily medicated and won't notice anything lol.

I had lipo on my hips. Your PS will give you pain meds and you'll be out of it. I went in thinking it was going to be terrible and ended up being shocked at how well I did. My entire family was shocked also, as they thought I would need more care than I did. Especially with a husband out of state during the week and having 3 kids. Getting through to day 4 was my turn around. Try not to worry too much. Keep a positive attitude and all will be well!!

One more question... how did you sleep at night? Were you able to sleep in your own bed or did you have to sleep in a recliner? What about standing upright?
May 4, 2017
I slept on my couch. My recliner has a button so I would have had to use leg strength to push it down. Lots of pillows. I was hunched for a few days. It does strain your back. I'm 3 weeks post op today and still feel tension but have been upright since 1 week out.

Tolerating pain well. I think the exparel pain injections are helping me the most. I was discharged at noon from the hospital. I didn't want to stay over night but it was actually relaxing since I am one who doesn't sleep well outside of my home. My incision looks great, I've been up several time and have only taken 2 norcos today. I go back next Thursday for a 1 week PO check. The night shift nurse kept calling me a rock star BBC of the way I tolerated the pain. Just keeping positive!
