My acne stared when I was just 13 years old. I assumed it was something I would grow out of after puberty, but little did I know it wanted to hang around for ever. I did various treatments over the years from OTC products, Proactive, months of doxy/tetra/minocyline treatments and everything just seemed to come back. I changed my diet, increased my water intake, and while I did see some slight changes, there was nothing to jump for joy over.

My most recent attempt was doxycycline and Veltin gel. I lasted only 2 weeks on the doxy before I had to stop taking them due to it causing chronic yeast infections. My doctor was pushing accutane and I just knew it wasn't something I wanted to put my body through seeing as I couldn't handle the doxy this time around.

I was ready to just give up when I decided to see another doctor in the office who suggested we try a low dose (25mg) of Spironolactone and see how that goes. So here I am. Two days of taking the pill and continuing the Veltin gel. I have really high hopes as the reviews on it seem pretty high, I am just scared of the possibility of weight gain. I plan to update weekly on this attempt to get normal skin.
