Today is November 13th and yesterday I weighed in at another doctors office at 190 lbs. His scale is a little off from the regular scale I weigh on but still good. I’m down 14 lbs by his scale. I weigh in at my surgeons office as I don’t have a scale at home. I don’t want one yet because I might be up or down a little and don’t want to be discouraged, so I specifically weigh in at my surgeons office or other doctors office if they just want a weight.
I am pretty excited, I am learning that the heavier a person might be at starting the more they seem to lose in the first few months. I was told 3 to 4 lbs is norm and that seems a bout right with me. I have not exercised much except walking and have not did that in the past few days as it is cold outside. I go to the mall and walk so it does feel great! I have not posted pictures yet because I have not told anyone about the surgery other than my immediate family members. I am taking photos though and may post them in the near future. I feel great and I am happy. Thank you Dr. Pleatman and staff for helping me along this journey. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you and Cari, Erin and the rest of the gang. At first I couldn’t notice a difference but when I put on my clothes, I could. When you see yourself everyday something you notice it a little less than others will. Congratulations to all that have made the decision to use this tool to better their health. I made this decision because I had a composition done in my body one months prior to surgery, I had been toiling with the idea for about a year now and I bugged Cari at De Pleatman’s office to no end for about a year, which she obliged. I did all the work up to get approved only to see if my insurance would approve me. During her course my gynecologist had a separate weight loss program in their office and I went for a consultation that’s when I learned about my metabolic rate while awake and sleep. The average person, my weight and height should burn over 1600 calories in a resting rate, mine wS 1354 and I had 43 percent visceral fat on my body! That’s almost half of my weight and it was all in the mid section swallowing up my organs!! I had to do something to get rid of the excess weight as that much visceral fat is not good at all. Subcutaneous fat is not as bad as visceral and I had learned within two weeks by two different doctors that mentioned that to me and how unhealthy it was for me. My surgeon and I did not talk about this and I’m kinda glad because it may have made me think differently about the whole decision. This was told to me Abby two other doctors withi. Two weeks of each other and did not know anything about surgery before they mentioned it to me. When you here this twice by two different professionals it’s something you can not ignore. I immediately called Sr . Pleatman to office to confirm that all was well and approved and to set a surgery date which was set within the next two weeks of hearing this news the second time. That was my deciding factor and I am more than glad I did this, not to look a certain way but too much visceral fat is a serious health risk, and I had never heard of it until now. So if you’re considering getting sleeved make sure you do it for your own reasons and you are happy about the decision that you make. Good luck to all.
